What is your Educational Background?

10 credits away from a B.S. in computer engineering
12 credits away from a B.S. in mathematics
however, all my (what i believe to be accurate) drug related knowledge has come from first hand experience, internet websites and forums (erowid, lycaeum, bluelight, hyperreal, etc). And of the bullshit knowledge of drugs i have has come from DARE class, high school health class, and most recently, an alcohol awareness class that i was required to take by a district court judge in virginia. That class was the worst of them all. The instructor told us that we wouldn't be able to get any US security clearances if we had previously smoked pot. I showed him.
 
Graduated from HS with honors.
Currently a senior in WSU's Comp Sci program.

Same here. I think thats because the "dumbass junkies" wouldn't have the sense or couldn't be bothered to read up about drugs and discuss them in the way Bluelighters do. Its a shame we are in such a minority :(

If I may hi-jack this thread slightly...
So many people wasting monwey with computer science majors... ahhhh help! Turn back before you have blown all yer money only to make $9/hr doing tech support (then in a couple months you will have gained more knowledge of computers then you would have your entire time at college!) .. I thought a comp sci degree and all those fancy Microsoft certs would matter - as it turns out, it's EXPERIENCE that gets you the job. Period. When I started doing tech support work at $8.50 an hour I was surrounded by people that HAD 4 year degrees, cisco certs, UNIX admin degrees, etc.. they had no real world experience and only papers saying to read a text book, did some lame lab projects, then taken a test - proof they can memorize enough shit to pass a test then forget everything next week...
So all that shit is GREAT but realize you're gunna have to do a couple years grunt work, making less then $10 an hour, and taking orders from a 17 year old that probably knows more then you do about your 'major' .. it's funny, we had this guy Hector.. he had a 4 year degree in computer science/network engineering/etc.. he had then taken 2 years at a tech school for router configuration, Solaris and a bunch of other shit.. he had his MSCE, MCP, MCT and a ton of other shit - well, sure enough, he could recite all kinds of useless shit but he couldnt even reload video drivers on an NT workstation .. if there was a discussion about UNIX/Linux he would try and ring in but said some just totally stupid things... he was like every other "paper tech" out there - meaning he could do it on paper but he had ZERO real world experience and was a total idiot.. last I heard he was still doing phone support ..
Honestly, you're better taking a business major then anything computer related, namely because the field is so saturated at this point - no matter what degrees and certs you have, there is someone with even more that has the all important experience..

-back to Manhattan (B.A. in film/minor in theatre)
now, I serendipitously float around Manhattan focusing on my screenwriting career (semi-finalist in the paramount pictures film writer's program), work as a commercial/music video editor and waitress, and try to reconcile my drug passions with my self-destructive tendencies.
I've always been well-schooled on medicine and psychology. Many of my creative ideas lie on the blurry line that exists between what is art and what is science. My own curiosity lead me to IV chemicals. with the guidance of specific bluelight posts at the time.
Now, I'm sort of in artistic limbo and don't know whether to try to make sense of the past year of drugs and terrorist bombings or just move on....
or both.

In the meantime, I guess there's always more free alcohol in bars on third avenue and good music in the west village. So, I'm doing that and seeing where the night takes me, apprehensive of the drug-thing but embracing it with desperate fingers digging into it's back as well....all in an effort, of course, to write.
 
Psychobiology major at santa clara uni in california. I started reading trip reports, Hunter Thompson, and High Times in eigth grade; but the trouble really started when I found bluelight. It even inspired me to write a 19 page paper about psychedelics for my english comp class. I Haven't looked back since

like everyone else, all my knowledge comes from firsthand experiences and the vast literature available on the internet. I learn a bit from peoples stories about how a drugs effected them and what the overall experiences was like, however their drug "knowledge" is useless.
i've seen so many people here come and go, i had alot of cool friends that i did drugs with but all of them dropped out. if you're in a *real* major here's a few tips: dont skip class, wait to get fucked up after all your work is done, and take advantage of your college's co-op/intern career fairs.

formal education involves BEng Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Astronautics & Space engineering, and now possibly a PhD in that same field, though thats not 100% sure at the moment...
...mind-altering education comes primarily from personal experience, literature (though mainly the generic, idiot-friendly stuff, nothing too hard-core) and erowid + Bluelignt (obviously ;) )
 
private christian college prep high school (ye-haw!)
2 years at private all girls college (didn't learn jack squat except for how much it hurts to waste $40,000 and two years of your college career)
4 years at community college (full time work and part time school and grandma footing the bill - doesn't really make for getting through quickly)
I have been just about every major that has been available to me since I started college. I have around 90 hours, most are electives though so they don't count towards getting my associates degree. I'm in Biology and Chemistry right now and when I finish this semester, I will have my associates degree in psychology. I am going to get my bachelor's in psych, a teaching certificate or whatever, and teach Psychology. While teaching I am going to go to law school and eventually I am going to become a criminal defense lawyer and I will focus on drug cases. I am of the view point that all drugs should be legal, regulated, the masses should be properly educated about drug use, and that this move will help solve many of the social problems that we face today. (I am also a very few credits from having an associates degree in english, sociology, and history)
The drug related knowledge that I have comes from the fact that I have been attatched to my computer doing as much research as I possibly can since last Feburary. I have also learned much from personal experience. I have also benefited emmensly from the stupidity of the people in my life...every time they make a comment about a drug that is blatantly wrong, I feel compelled to learn as much as possible about the truth on that matter and help educate them in any way I can. I do not see where I have the ability to sit aside while my dear friends are subjected to the uninformed rumors that fly around with regards to their drug use. I have taken it as my responsibility to help educate anyone I see making blatant errors with regard to drug "facts".
it has become part of my mission in life to help others learn how to do their drugs responsibly.
 
I have a B.A. in psychology and sociology. I am applying to begin work on my masters degree in the spring. I shouldn't have any problem getting into the program.
My drug knowledge has come from 12 years of intense book and journal-based study, 3 years of internet-based study, and 10 years of personal experience with various psychoactive substances.
 
I see a lot of northern californias. Why don't ya'll come out of your anti-social shells and reply to the norcal ssnct roll call thread in westcoast events ;)

I got a BA in double majors, psychology and communication studies... so I can tell you all about rehab programs, drug abuse, and, my favorite, how certain drugs can actually HELP people psychologically... but all my chemistry/biology info I get from here and Erowid, and journal studies I read about.

I have learned the majority of my knowledge from bluelight, erowid, and I even took a college course on Drugs and Behavior in Modern Society. Of course, extensive experience as well.
 
I'm in my last semester of a BA in psychology. I only have personal experience with about half of the drugs discussed here, but my background has included multiple classes in pharmacology, biology and neuroscience.
I have also visited Erowid numerous times and when friends have questions regarding drugs, I am usually the one they call.
