What is your current supplement regimen and why you use them

@phishy2
Thanks for the info regarding hemochromatoisis. It's weird though. 5 years ago I had the doc check up on me and the only thing I was lacking was iron...
I'm male.

DHA (a fatty acid for memory and other brain functions including vision)
4 or 5 table spoons of ground flax seed on my cereal (omega-3 fatty acids)
in addition, i try to eat lots of different whole grains, vegetables and fruits.

i'm vegan, so this regemin helps any possible deficits of nutrients in my diet.

VelocideX Thanks for that first post on fish oils and ala and all.
I'm about to try to find a good deal on ala and alcar.

I see alot of people taking 5-htp as a daily routine. I thought tolerence built up rendering it useless after a week or so of use. Have I been mistaken?

Glucosamine 750 / Chondroitin 600 : one inbetween breakfast & lunch
Helps rebuild cartilage & lubricate joints; Support the body's ability to support joint health integrity; Helps promote joint flexibility & mobility.
Chitosan Plus : two 30 minutes before lunch and two 30 minutes before dinner

Where do you guys get your information from? How do you know what you need and which supps to take?

^^^^

JUst research on the internet.

Just get information on nutrition ie. what our bodies require on a daily basis. This combined with analyzing your diet you can determine what type of supplements you need. For example i dont eat alot of dairy so i take calcium supplements.

Also herbal supplements can help with specific health problems, like medicine.

wholehealthmd.com has a good database of supplements.

stay healthy!

I'm talking about which sources you use. I'm sure most people research this stuff on the internet... I'm just unsure of where they go to and which sources are more reliable than others.

Daily mens vitamin pack
6000mg Vitamin C in divided doses (for overall health)
6000mg Fish oil in divided doses (for mental clarity and stroke prevention)
Feverfew cap (migraine prevention)
320mg Magnesium (migraine prevention)
Green Tea Extract (anti-cancer and stroke prevention)
1200mg Lechithin
50mg Zinc
120mg CoQ10
Prostate Formula Cap (prostate enlargement/cancer prevention)

Stroke and prostate problems are common amongst all men on my dads side of the family. My dad being the latest, having prostae surgery in 2003 and a stroke later that year at the age of 67. A cousin on my mothers side, had both a heart attack and a stroke before the age of 40.

I'm determined to be the man in the family that it passes. So I'm taking the supplements indicated for each as a preventative. I figure that it's best than I start at the age of 31 and hopefully head it off, rather than doing nothing and getting struck down.

500iu vit E,
2000mg calcium ascorbate,
1000mg evening primrose oil,

All Daily, and it has a profound effect on my wellbeing.

And for a “ Critical Analysis of The National Academy of Sciences' Attack on Dietary Supplements” please read this:

http://www.lef.org/featured-articles/may2000_canasads_01.html

if you actually read the research it does not show that supplements are dangerous at all, the analysts’ conclusions are contradictory to the research they were analysing.
Do ya think that MAYBE some of the ‘scientific conclusions’ we are fed by certain sectors of the scientific community are biased in order to preserve the industries which supply their research money? of course if you check ALL the available research you can make your own conclusions.

1-3 grams choline citrate
1-3 grams piracetam
1-3 grams acetyl-L-carnitine
500mg-1500mg milk thistle
75-200g whey protein
125-400g maltodextrin
multivitamin
Udo's Choice oil on days that I don't eat any fish

I should start taking creatine monohydrate, I have a bunch sitting around I rarely take. I don't eat land animals so my creatine intake is probably pretty damn low most of the time.

6000mg Vitamin C in divided doses (for overall health)

6 grams is A LOT of vit C. I would consider droping the dosage by quite a bit- 1g is PLENTY, especially if you eat a lil bit of fruit along with it.

^The dose was prescribed by a ND for the treatment of tinnitus, along with 120mg of Ginko a day
