What is your current supplement regimen and why you use them

^there are so many variables that go into feeling energy, and feeling "better overall," how do you know it's 1. due to other thing(s) and 2. not placebo?

ive been taking a multivitamin and calcium and havent really felt different. i take it anyway because i assume it's improving my health but i never really thought anyone would actually feel it working

^ qwe why extra calcium?

I take a multivitamin daily (sometimes I get really lazy on breaks and forget but during the school year all the time) then I take a pill of amoxicillin (acne) and apply some topical medication (for acne). It's quite the hassle in the morning :/

Anyone ever take a multivitamin on an empty stomache? Worst idea ever.

Panax Ginseng Extractum
Energy_Enhancer_-_Panax_Ginseng_Extractum_(Oral_Liquid_Hd-002).jpg

Not for the squeamish since it is in liquid form , I take it in the mornings with a straw! (vials remnd me of ketamine..hmmmm....i wish)

^^Ginseng is the SHIT. I fucking love that stuff; better workouts, better sex, better life.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I just started taking ginseng myself. It's a mixed formula of Eleuthero, Red, Chinese, and Siberian Ginseng with some Royal Jelly thrown in for kicks I guess. Two caps of that with a B-Complex and a couple g's of Kre-alkalyn right before lifting have given me the best workouts I've had in months.

wasnt there some recent research done which showed Ginseng to be
1. not effective for most everything it is "prescribed" for and
2,. UNhealthy ?

hmmm

I took in for a year myself ( a very High quality version )
and had mostly just a bit of insomnia .

^ Not to mention the incredible percentage of rip-offs or simply too too too diluted substances. Liquids are neat from a marketing perspective - 99.9% of your customers can't test to see exactly what is in it!

Oooooh thats a good combination you have there....I used to take two kinds of Ginseng as well with my regular supplement. Royal Jelly is great too...when Im sick I take two 700 mg jelly capsules and the next day I'm well! (too bad its quite expensive!)=D

Stillbeing: I guess it has to depend on the brand you get. I agree that there are some brands that SUCK are totally diluted and watered down .....and there are good ones. The Panax Ginseng Extractum I got is very cheap, straight from a reputable Chinese manufacturer and very effective.:) (also maybe you are not a Ginseng person ;))

4x slow release vit c 500mg (taken throughout the day)

2x "Osteocare" calcium/magnesium tablets (Magnesium (150mg), Calcium (800mg), Zinc (10mg), copper (1mg), selenium (50ug), manganese (0.5mg), Vitamin D (5ug), Boron (0.6mg))

Co-Enzyme Q10 10mg (plus 22.05mg vitamin E)

Milk Thistle extract (taking a break currently)

2x Omega 3 fish oils (180mg EPA, 120mg DHA)

300mg St Johns Wort (Kira brand)

Gingko bilabo (ginkyo brand, 120mg)

Supermarket brand Vitamin B Complex (Thiamine (1.4mg), Riboflavin (1.6mg), Niacin (18mg), B6 (2mg), Folic acid (200ug), B12 (1ug), Pantothenic acid (6mg))

Glucosamine Sulphate (600mg)

Green Tea (lots)

Only recently started eating serious vitamin tablets each morning, ive noticed a huge increase in my metabolism were before i was lethargic now i am full of energy and feel a lot healthier in a number of other ways too. Not sure if i should be taken a good multi-vitamin. Ill probably add a few more to that list as i experiment with different supplements. Need to get hold of some piracetam, doesn't look like you can buy it in the shops here in the UK, i can mail order the stuff though.

I would be interested in comments or suggestions :)

^ Neat combinations.

Do you use the St. Johns Wort as a supplement, or more as a medicine?

I use it as a seasonal supplement, i have a stressfull lifestyle with my work so sometimes i end up a little depressed, add to that the fact its dark all the time here in the uk and i end up in miserable moods from time to time. I tried up to 900mg, but found it leaves me with a mild headache about 12 hours after dosing, 300mg is perfect for me. I'll probably not take it during summer.

Co-Enzyme Q10 10mg (plus 22.05mg vitamin E) *** you want between 50-150mg to be therapeutic

Gingko bilabo (ginkyo brand, 120mg) **this is a very low dose. You can take up to 7500mg. But anything 2500mg and up is worth it.

Supermarket brand Vitamin B Complex (Thiamine (1.4mg), Riboflavin (1.6mg), Niacin (18mg), B6 (2mg), Folic acid (200ug), B12 (1ug), Pantothenic acid (6mg))

**** these are all extremely low doses, between 25mg-50mg is good for most b vit's

Glucosamine Sulphate (600mg) ***you would need at least 1500mg

I haven't been taking this stuff really long so hadn't had a chance to review doses (i just went with what was on the packet).

Tried the ginko at a much higher dose and noticed a difference in short term memory (which for me has always been weak, im easily distracted i guess) :)

One question, is it ok to take vit c and magnesium at the same time or is it best to stagger them say 12 hours apart?

^^I take mine at the same time although I'm not sure of the implications that may cause for others....I've been fine. (I ran out of magnesium tho, thank you for reminding me!! :X)

I've recently bought a huge supply of Centella Herbal Tea with Pandan , a soothing blend of Centella Asiatica and pandan leaf preparation manufactured and sold locally . I put four bags in my daily coleman of iced water or iced green tea (yeah I'm a green tea fanatic!) and feel a lot more alert and clearheaded during the day. I have tried other Centella Asiatica tea blends over here and this one , in my experience, is the best variant yet.

From the product pamphlet:
Centella Asiatica is the botanical name of Gotu Kola. The leaves contain nutrients that act as brain food and is proven effective by traditional practice in the treatment of general debility and decline. It strengthens digestion and food is better utilized and the process of over-all mechanism is increased. Throughout history this herb has been used for a wide range of health problems such as rheumatism, arhtritis, poor memory, lack of concentration, digestive and respiratory ailments, fever, neuritis, highblood pressure, etc. Clinical trials show that it can help those with chronic venous insufficiency. Findings also reveal that it acts as an anti-oxidant in human body cells . The active principles of this herb is the tripertene saponins (asiaticodes) plus genins {asiatic, madecassic acid) and also contain flavonols which stimulate circulation, B vitamins, tannins, essential oil, pectins , amino acid, sugar, phytosterols, fatty acids and others that are essential for good health.

Pandanus Odorus
is the botanical name of the Pandan Mabango (a local fruit) Its long and narrow green leaves contain essential oil and Vitamin E.

When I take it with Piracetam the effects seem to increase, based on my experience.

I also added 150 mgs of Green Tea Extract plus L Carnitine (Fitrum) to my daily regimen.
