What is your body trying to say when it craves protein or carbs?

Sometimes I have intense cravings for carbs or protein. I crave carbs in the morning but crave protein at night. I workout in the morning. What is my body saying?
 
well obviously,after sleeping you need quick energy,yes protein can be converted and fats give it,but aint nothing more efficient than bunch of simple carbs

at night? can u be more specific? personaly I crave protein 24/7 so I hit dead end when trying to answer ur question

At night, I crave chicken and fish. The idea of eating bread or something rich in carbs makes me sick.
 
I think it depends on your what you eat and the portion of food you eat. I don't have that much appetite during the day but at night I crave for protein as well. There is also a possibility that your body got used to this kind of cycle where you would eat carbs in the morning then crave protein at night. You also have to take into consideration that if your body is lacking some nutrient it will obviously crave for it.
