What is wrong with my friend ? Cannabis phycosis or bipolar ?

Hello all,

I hope ive put this in correct place. My friend has smoked cannabis scince age of 13 non stop but does not touch opiates etc at all only does weed and valium on rare occasions. Am wondering what on earth is wrong with him. He claims that the government are running round dishing out contaminated packs of tobbaco cutters choice to every shop just so he cant have and enjoy a proppa smoke. He says the contaminated stuff makes his heart rate faster and that it drugs him up. He also claims hes being followed around all the time by who he calls the sad services. He also wont leave any food at his house because he thinks they have a key to get in and that they contaminate his food and milk. He thinks it tastes odd when i think theres absolutely nothing wrong with it. Sometimes i think hes doing it try and get attention or just because he wants to smoke my tobacco instead of his,but other times i think he seriously has something wrong with him. He has been going round accuseing people of being on the goverments payrole just because they wont sort him out weed when really i think people dont wanna sort him out at all anymore because hes accused them of being a grass and they know the weeds made him gone weird. Im just sick of hearing the same old story everytime he comes round. I dont mean to be nasty or anything but He's doing my nut in that bad im constantly worrying about the next time hes gonna knock on the door as im sick of hearing the bullshit thats comming out his mouth. 8( Unless im absolutely smashed out my face on alcohol, pills and had a few smokes i cant take it. :X Its the same story every time as if hes never told it me before. im at the end of my limit's i have to do something. Ive been smoking cannabis just as long as he has and just as much he does and im also dependant on benzo's and mst continus but ive never had thoughts like that ! What do i do people ? :? Thanks ;)
 
Thanks for you reply Artificial Emotion. He has seen one i think. He was sectioned about 4 years ago. I think his dad made a statement against him. Theres worse as well he thinks the gov or sad services as he calls them have drained his sperm and impregnated women with it in our town. And thats straight up i ent making this up. I really wish i was :( I assume he thinks that happend when he was sectioned. I assume they use some heavy duty sedative drugs in them places if you dont comply or get aggresive towards them bang 10mg of Intra muscular lorazepam or olanzapine . I think thats what may have happened and now he thinks every one is out to get him. I just cant get my head round it and have my own problems to deal with i cant deal with his as well no more. not being nasty or nothing i just had enough of it. thanks for listening i cant turn to any one local it will get out about what i have said but then maybe it should !?!?! :)
 
If someone told me they thought their sperm was being drained and women were being impregnated I would find it hard not to suspect they were having a laugh. That just sounds way too outlandish.

Hi comtablynumb95 Thanks for your reply, i think i will have to if he carries on even if we do fall out over it. Im staying with my mum at the moment and shes an ex nurse just a nursing home rgn and she says he deffinatly has got something wrong with him. i think you could of hit the nail on the head with that one comftablynumb95 cheers for that :)

If it wasnt for the other stuff going on i would of agreed with that and probably laughed n treated as a joke. But when you hear it every time i see him for last 4 years all the time. Its the same story in same order every day. I know somethings not right with him. He gets targeted all the time in his car by police for driving like an idiot, for road rageing every one that drives at 40-45mph in 60 zones and he wonders why the police hassle him more than crack and heroin addicts <--- thats his words. Probably because there not in a car driving dangerously nearly killing innocent people, they might kill themselves but are not a threat to the public that what i say.He didnt even give it a break today after i had bad news about someone i knew who died. Anyways better get off the subject its a bit depressing for me at the moment. Thank you everyone good to get this crap out my system. Well sort off. Peace and <3
 
I hope he finds some relief, sounds like he's suffering greatly from delusions. I am curious to how he will react to you telling him he needs a psychiatrist since it seems he is pretty deeply paranoid. Nonetheless I wish you luck and hope for the best for the both of you.

A lot of the people who knows has told him over the last 4 years he has got problems. He now thinks there all on goverments's payrole in a conspiricy to stop him from getting high quality or uncontaminated weed. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with what i get and if he gets some of same stuff of our guy as well he swears blind its contaminated if its not that its supposidly under weight even though its weighed in front of us. Ive tried to remain pritty neutral on the matter, but have reached my limits on tolerance ! thanks for your reply Infinate :) well keep the thread up to date on the situation. Thanks everyone :)
 
It sounds like what they call a "fixed" delusion, so deeply ingrained that it may not be able to be dispelled...When I'm manic, I can simultaneously be spot-on about certain things, like my brain is functioning on a higher level than normal....I become delusional at times about my own importance in the world, delusions of grandeur etc. I'm usually quick to notice when I'm becoming delusional though, and a good night's sleep usually takes care of it...the repetitive, continuing nature of it is more in the range of what would be called "paranoid schizophrenia"....

It's especially horrible for people to be abandoned by their friends because of their mental illness, but it becomes so frustrating that it's impossible to tolerate....I feel for the guy...if it's a fixed delusion, medication doesn't generally help though...very sad...

Have you tried confronting him about these things and telling him it's all bullshit? I've tried that with people suffering similar symptoms and they've become aggressive....not sure if it's better to confront them or play along in situations like this...
 
Could be schizo or schizo affective, weed induced. Start him on an antipsychotic and make him quit smoking weed.
 
It sounds like me almost a year ago. I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia after a sever mental breakdown and psychosis episode.

IF left to develop something terrible may happen because he will so paranoid thinking the entire world is out to get him.

The worst signs to look out for are when he becomes manic, meaning he may become high and euphoric thinking he has some almighty cure, idea, knowledge. This is usually followed by great upset at which point he may lash out and become aggressive.

From what I've learned schizophrenia is caused when the person hallucinates on their own body chemistry. Adrenaline and oxygen molecules bind together to create whats called andreno-chrome. This by itself can cause people to hallucinate and become psychotic.

There has been enough speculation already. The only way to know what's up with your friend is for them to consult a professional in person.
