What is there to do in NC?

Hey beanergrl, I was really looking into possibly moving to Asheville this year. I have been there once and really enjoyed it. Seems like a place I could enjoy. I think you lived in Orlando for a while, years back. When BL was hip for me. LOL. Any info you'd like to tell me about Asheville would be awesome. :)

Hi Coreo ! I remember you from way back BL too. Yes, i did live in Orlando way back when BL was hip for me and O-town was still hip as well. :)
I'm not into the scene at all anymore but Asheville allows me to live my life like i like on my terms. It is totally unlike everything i knew Florida.

Asheville has a huge local food movement and the people here seem more willing to make the changes that need to be made in the world more then other places i have visited. We are involved in a couple of co-ops that work with the community and there are many groups that you can join to connect with that are bound to have the same interest as yourself. We have a strong arts sector and there is nothing better then just being outdoors here and going for a hike or maybe tubing,
I truly love it here. It's like i found my people . :)

If you want to know anything specifically just drop me an email. I would be happy to help you with what i know. ~ Peace :)

I was born in Canada, but I have lived in Raleigh, NC since the time I was in 3rd grade. I just graduated from Millbrook, but I went to Millbrook, North Ridge and Baileywick for elementary schools... So I know a lot of people. I'm 18 right now, used to party all the time but haven't been lately. I just recently tried E for the first time and LOOOVVEEDDD it to death, but it's near IMPOSSIBLE to get anywhere near decent E around here (at least for me.) Hit me up on AIM anytime if you want to talk, HoCkeYMan23902 (haven't changed it since 5th grade.)

There's a lot to do in NC depending on your interests. We have a lot of good beaches (Holden, Wrightsville, Ocean Isle, Sunset) and Myrtle Beach isn't especially far away. We also have some great mountain areas (WCU area, Appalachain Mtns., Beech Mtn., etc). There are also a lot of college towns (Chapel Hill, NCSU area, Wilmington, Asheville, Boone, etc) that have a lot to offer in terms of night-life and general partying. Other than travel destinations, which we have an abundance of, there isn't anything more or less to do in most of the larger NC cities than elsewhere in the country. I'm in Charlotte (born and raised), and I can pretty much always find something to get into.

NC FTW :D

Hot damn, I'm glad I caught this thead.
I lived in Cary up until four years ago, then moved to Maryland. Before Cary, I'd lived in Raleigh, Greenville and Wilmington. Now I'm moving back to NC to attend Warren Wilson College in Asheville this summer.
I wasn't into drugs much when I lived there, though =/

I move to Greensboro from Boston a while ago and if anyone from here knows this city to keep me here would be cool I been bored to long Boston is great so much to do but can't seem to find a decent club or bar here yet anyone got any ideas??

You can find places that are pretty cheap as far as rent..my boyfriend and I had a really nice one-bedroom apartment that was $610 a month including all utilities, and I've been looking on Craigslist for a place to live for the school year, and there are lots of house shares for around $350-400 a room.

As far as jobs go, I know it's picking up right now because of tourist season but most of those jobs are just seasonal. I've lived there for the past two years but had to move like 2 months ago because I couldn't find a job. I've heard it's easier now but in the winter it can get pretty tough but I guess that's the case everywhere right now.

Take classes and learn spelling/punctuation, go hiking, go to the beach, work... it's also near a lot of places for road trips.

NYP isn't terrible... go on Thursday nights. College Hill is cliquey, but okay if you're into a more scenester setting. I prefer the dive bars... Jakes has cheap brews on Mondays (and lots of pool tables), NYP has pitcher specials during week, 1-2 dollar any bottles like Th, and shooter specials on Fridays. 2 dollar martinis for women on Wed at Much, 4 dollar everyone on Thursdays. Thirsty Thursdays at the baseball home games... alcohol is alcohol. I go where the people are nice and the alcohol's cheap. Other than that, gl finding entertainment here. I've been here since 99 and still haven't found a fun non-alcoholic place to relax without being at home.
