What is the ideal male hight

Just curious what is the ideal male height. Can height be a deal breaker or maker :?
 
Tall enough so that I can wear heels and still be shorter. Not so tall that I strain my neck having a conversation. For me, I think that would be anything from 5"4-6"4. If I were taller, I would probably ignore the heel requirement.

Height is never a maker, there are too many options to choose from. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but someone who fell outside of that range would have to put in a bit of extra effort at the beginning.
 
Yeah, I'm 5'1" and my boyfriend is 5'7", which would be considered short for a male. He's tall to me though, because I'm short as well.
 
6'+ only for me. Always had a thing for tall, big shouldered men. I'm 5'7 or so. Ideal I'd say is 6'2.

But.... Don't worry dude. You might just have to go for shorter girls though, some girls are a bit weird about it (but only if you're REALLY small ie smaller than majority of females). Some girls don't give a fuck. This is only my personal preference. If they like you, it won't matter, whatsoever. There's way worse deal breakers.
 
I assume you are talking about your height in relation to a (female) partner.
In many countries the males prefer to be taller than their partners.
An exception is the Netherlands, where males often have female partners taller than themselves.
As a result the Dutch population is much taller than populations in neighbouring countries.
Height is from the statistical point of view a factor that favours success. Taller men get better jobs, earn more, have healthier lives ....
This doesn't mean you can't have a successful life if you're small. It just means you have to work harder.

6'3 to 6'5 is the perfect dunking range, being African American is also a bonus.

Nice! I'm 5' and my boyfriend is 5'8". He's shorter than tons of guys aha but he doesn't mind. He says he's always dated shorter girls but he said shorter meant like 5'6" LOL! It's kinda cute because my boyfriend is the same height as my younger sister :P Anyway. I'm used to guys being taller than me because, well, I'm super short. But an ideal guy height? I don't really care. My ex was just over 6' tall. I am used to be shorter than guys so, if there was a guy shorter than me, I guess I'd have to get used to it but it would be fine.

^^LOL at this. If we're simply talking guys, my boyfriend is a 24 year old incredibly successful guy. We're looking at buying a condo by the age of 25. Most people here at age 35 don't even have condos or houses. He's also healthy, attractive, etc. Just cuz he's shorter... :P
And if we're including females, I do think of myself as successful as well and I'm short too! Not to be conceited or anything but my boyfriend and I both do very well for ourselves, especially at this age.

I think you need to work hard to be successful no matter what your height is!

my mum gave up altogether when she figured out that if she put a cookie jar on the roof I'd be drawing up plans to borrow, buy or steal a ladder within seconds of finding out about it.

Way to either take it personally or just use it as an opporunity to brag.

They were simply pointing out a statistical fact. As bullshit as it may be tall men do tend to earn more money, be more powerful, more intelligent etc Not sure about healthier though.

Yeah I don't really need a reason to brag, I tend to keep my successes to myself however this was directly correlated to short people and being successful. Not apologizing for talking about short people who are successful. lol. I just wanted to prove that it's simply hard working people who do better, it's not because they are taller. That's absolutely ridiculous. I know tons of tall people who are unsuccessful and short people who are successful. Correlation is definitely NOT causation in this instance. How do you even determine a "fact" like this? I'm interested in knowing your resources and if these resources do say that being tall is the reason these people are so much better.
 
You're right, correlation is not evidence of causation. I don't think anyone has suggested that.

However there have been studies done that show taller people are viewed by others either consciously or subconsciously as stronger, cleverer (there is an actual real life correlation there too), more powerful etc which would be evidence of a causal relationship in the real life correlations between height and earnings, job status etc

With regards to the facts, a quick perusal of google will show you the positive correlation between height and intelligence, height and earnings etc as well as the negative correlation between height and life expectancy. If you can be bothered you can use scholar.google.com to search for academic papers, although unless you have an institutional log in you're unlikely to be able to view much more than the abstract on most of them. Personally I'm not interested enough in this subject to want to research it deeper.

Unfair as it may be...these are simple facts, although in differs from one geographical location to another. You're right when you say that the effort you put in to life is a far more powerful variable in the outcomes one achieves.

Personally I'm a tall man who likes short girls so hopefully I will end up making medium size kids.=D Be nice for them not to have to put up with all the bullshit that comes with being tall, for some reason everyone thinks it's ok to immediately mention it when they meet you..."gosh you're tall aren't you"....."have you got taller since I last saw you?"(no I'm fucking 26 I'm not getting taller)...."how's the weather up there" etc etc Luckily it doesn't bother me like it might someone who was more self-conscious but it's interesting the way people seem to think it's ok to use it as a point of reference, no one greets people by telling them how short or fat they are! Still, swings and roundabouts with the many benefits I guess:)

Usually it works best if the man is taller than the woman.

That's all that really matters.

I am 6 foot 1 tall so I might not have the best perspective, but from what I have seen, that is always the case.

Then again, you do say a lot of senseless stuff in this forum. Your statement is true but the thread is about this issue in general and there is a certain bias.

Most western women are uncomfortable to some degree being with a guy that's shorter than them. A lot will stop using high heels if it would make them taller than their partner.

I know a lot of guys who refuse to approach a woman that's taller than them because they think it's awkward when both are standing up. They cant picture themselves leaning in to make the first kiss and having to be on the tip of their toes, no matter how attracted to the partners physique they are.

I say western because I don't know about the east in this aspect... maybe it's similar.


It's silly but its something we live with and that is constantly reinforced by the media and by people themselves.
