What is the era of drugs today

On the plus side, some USA states' cannabis law reforms and licit industrialisation appear to be behind a great deal of innovation, in terms of genetics, extracts, smoking/vaping methods and so on.

No body knows what future will bring. But one thing will never change: The desire of mankind to get wasted.

Its like in war. It doesn't matter whether people use stones or lasers, the result will always be the same. As with every part of society, technical revolutions can speed up the process and make it more efficient, but wont change the result.

More people taking new drugs only means less people taking old drugs.....

The Era of Synthetic Drugs.

My prediction is that heroin and methamphetamine will gain enough popularity within their respective consumer markets (i.e. "downer" people and "upper" people) that they'll pretty much swallow everything else popularity-wise. In pretty much every market where meth (and synthetic stimulants in general) have gone up against cocaine, the former has won; and heroin has obviously expanded in popularity since the days of oxycontin. I see heroin as becoming even more popular among "casual" users and losing a lot of the stigma it may have had among young middle and upper class users.

As far as cannabis goes, the future looks nothing but bright to me. Legalization will expand and continue to build victories.

The current era of drugs is much linked to the current era of society today. We live in an era of globalization, outsourcing, digital mediation of commercial and social processes, demolition of traditional market structures in the name of "disrupting inefficiencies," and a dizzying variety of mostly superfluous products of varying quality offered to the consumer, often sold with slick and deceptive marketing practices. This pretty much sums up the changes in the drug scene and economy on a macro level.

Thus: production of drugs and precursors is outsourced to China, India, Eastern Europe, etc. and even drug agriculture (marijuana, coca, opium) shifts from traditional venues to new ones where it is found more efficient. Drug sales and drug chatter go on in forums such as this one and in online marketplaces, which are demolishing traditional market structures the same way that Uber threatens taxis and AirBNB threatens hotels. The dizzying variety of products is obvious, as are the deceptive marketing practices (misbranding, bomadoses, fentadope, "incense not for human consumption," etc, etc.)

Harder to find high-purity/real LSD (not for me though, it was for awhile year or two ago) as well as MDxx compounds sold as "Molly" which is supposed to be pure MDMA crystals/powder; in reality it's mostly RC empathogenic, coke-esque/DRI stimulant- Methylone/bk-MDMA (fun and great IV rush IME, but not even close to the magic, warm and loving euphoria of MDMA). "Sass" supposed to be pure/crystal MDMA, but often just flooring, mildly empathogenic, and maybe subtle psychedelic/visual RC's (e.g. 5-APB, 6-APB, tan MDAI ect).

Cocaine is far less pure and crack is mostly trash these days, unless you find the right dealers via trial and error use. Crack cocaine just isn't as popular with younger generations like IV high-grade/decent cocaine sold in the same doses of heroin, usually heroin addiction goes hand-in-hand with cocaine these days. Most heroin dealers sell IV worthy cocaine in caps, like heroin is served (unless you're asking for weight, which can be anywhere from a half-gram of "the raw/fire" to asking for a straight gram that comes in chunks/no caps around my hood)

Mushrooms are usually potent Thais or P. Cubes

Heroin is the same if not stronger, fent-laced dope is sought after by many users.

PCP is not as common, although popular in the hoods of Jersey and Philly in low income African-American areas where most suburban white kids go to cop their bags of dope, coke/crack; some of my buddies from those areas got smoked wet routinely. I can myself using PCP frequently if it was available to me, love dissociative/arycyclohexylamine compounds.

Oh I forgot, pressed "ecstasy" pills aren't as popular nor often actual MDMA/MDA, but the only time I've had pure MDA ad MDMA separately or preferably in combination, was the form of pressed ecstasy pills. They still come around every blue moon.

RC's have become popular with younger generations as real shit takes some real looking to find and they are some dope RC's available (My DOC is/was MXE before the ban, etizolam, synthetic tryptamines, PCP analogues)

Marijuana is more potent and available for reasonable/lower costs than just 5 years ago. Wax/dabs/BHO/shatter have blown up in popularity, very potent and higher THC content than any cannabis strain, although I appreciate the flower form for it's array of different effects per strain.

Alcohol just as popular as ever.

Benzodiazepines have replaced the recreational use of barbituates (not used much in medicine except for the anticonvulsant phenobarbital and Foricet/butabital, neither of recreational value maybe potentiation of opioid-worthy, but that's it. I hate phenobarb) as well as Quaaludes (not made these days).

Kratom is now popular world-wide, not just among Thailand laborers.

Era of drugs from pharmacies. Corrupted doctors. Some pretty dangerous medicines, others causes simply too strong or causing hallucinations. Painkillers, ether, benzodiazepines, just to name a few.

In some places in Miami, drug stores are watched by private armed security while lots of dealers fly there for drug shopping.

Some people use them because they are "clean" but they need to have the means to obtain them in addition to the known dangers of self medicating and OD. Dealers own some clinics. It's crazy. This never happened before, not like that as I hear and watch in documentaries.

Lots of doctors that prescribed opiates are now switching to suboxone.

Drugs are also now more accessible then ever, and hard drugs can be found increasingly in suburbs.

Most drugs have increased man drug use as a whole but I gotta say weed is massive one most people I know smoke pot even the ones you wouldn't expect it's more accepted now id say aha and in england don't know about elsewhere but cocaine as become popular!
