When I was living in London I was looking for a temp job to earn some money to come home again. Finding jobs in London is very easy so I didn't think I'd have any trouble getting one quickly.

Three months later I still hadn't found work and I was getting sick of people telling me how easy it is to get a job in London. Then finally a temp agency sent me an e-mail saying they had tried my number and it had been wrong.

All that time the phone number I'd had on my resume had been the wrong one :(

What an idiot! I got a job shortly after I corrected the problem.

So what have you done?

Top this, dumbasses ;)

When I was 18 and fresh out of hicksville in the city for uni... I believed a guy who said he was an ASIO agent and needed to stay in our flat undercover.... believed him when he said he'd train my boyfriend and myself as "operatives" and took us through rigorous yet bogus 'tests' ... believed his various documents and weapons and official letters.... believed my boyfriend when he said he'd been to their headquarters (he hadn't)... sold all our possessions and jumped in the con man's "official ASIO" vehicle (actually a hire car) and went with him to Bateman's Bay in NSW where apparently we were awaiting pickup from America.... stunned when woke up 3 days later in hotel room, stripped of all remaining money and stranded as cops burst in demanding to know our association with known Queensland con-man identity.

Pretty dumb is understatement of the year, even Current Affair agreed :(.

...we stilllove you slm!!! :)

the dumbest thing ive ever done?

would of been wednesday night actually.

after sitting at work for an hour or so and catching up with mates i decided to have a couple of beers. knowing perfectly well i had to be at dancing at 7pm.

Once i had finished three beers i was nicely tipsy. I entered the studio and started my pole routine only to go to grab the pole with my left hand and and swing round it while straddling it, to only miss it and fall flat on my arse on the floor.

God dam floor boards hurt!!

freshly turned 17, got my P plates! YAY! Went to my parentless home called a mate, he bought around a carton of beer to celebrate. After drinking for a few hours, he passed out and vomited on my bed. I decided I'd go stay at a mates house...On my way there, what are the chances of running into a booze bus.....chances apparently pretty good. As soon as i saw them i turned to jelly.

Long story/short = I got done for DUI blew 0.091, lost my licence for 7 months......stupidist part about it....I had my licence for 7 hours...... 7 god damn hours.... i still get annoyed with myself for this one....

yeah SLM, you put all our other efforts to shame. I wanna know how why your boyfriend lied about going to ASIO HQ lol.

^ It was a "test" for him (one of our many 'tests', I could go on and on), to see if he could lie to my face and have me believe him. "Operatives sometimes need to lie to those closest to them"... the con-man guy was 'teaching him a skill' 8) He told him he couldn't take him to the real HQ because he didn't have clearance yet.

He was a cunning psychological manipulator.

What bugs ME is why, knowing there was no ASIO headquarters, my boyfriend still went along with all of it. Yes, yes, there was all the "other stuff", which I believed too... but still. He was the bigger sucker, imo... it contributed to the breakdown of that relationship.

Sorry. Back on topic...

Had unprotected sex with an ex-heroin addict for at least three months.
I was given not one, but two second chances by not getting her pregnant (even though it was hella close) and by not catching any STD from her which she was regulary screened for.

Never again.

I went home by myself, without a watcher, after dropping 3 tabs of acid 6 hours before. Yes, i was seeing shit all over the place and just laughing at random shit at 7am in the morning.
So i was on the train, and for some reason i had my lighter out. I thought it would be a good idea to light up the lighter and put it against a strip of hair.

So you could guess what happened next. It took a few seconds to register what i had done and quickly patted down the strip of hair that had just gone up in a flame.
lol.. makes me laugh when i think of it now. So i stunk out the whole carriage, i had a few dirty looks from some random old people on their way to work.

That was about a year and a half ago. I don't think i ever told anyone about that.

Never EVER travelling ANYWHERE without a watcher present when on acid.

And that concludes my story of "the dumbest thing you ever did".

My experience is nothing like those stated already.

Last year while on our 10 month journey around the world, my girlfriend and I met a guy in a laundry-mat in Amsterdam who told us that he was a professional gambler. He wanted to cash a shit load of US dollars to Euros, said that he has already cash the maximum limit for that day. So he asked if we could cash (launder) some for him in exchange for 50 euros.

Now keep in mind that when you are backpacking, money is tight and something like this seems like heaven.

We each did US$5000 at two separate exchange offices, (US$20000 all up!), and, luckily the money wasn't counterfeit. Pretty dumb, but we each got 100 euros for our troubles, and a bottle of liquid acid. I'm guessing he was a big time dealer.

I feel for you SLM, I guess it could happen to anyone. :\ Do you now have a hard time trusting people?

Funnily enough, no. The very question Current Affair asked me was: "So, do you feel stupid now?". And I considered and thought: "No, motherfuckers: you have no idea how convincing he was. You didn't see the weapons, the badges, the official letters, the Armani suits... no, fuck you, you condescending pricks... I don't feel stupid. Naiive, yes. Stupid, no." (I wish I'd said this on tape ;) )

I was at least smart enough to realise that I was unlucky enough to have stumbled apon one of the 0.0000001% of the population who are completely psychotic and evil. I realise not everyone is like this; and I prefer to keep my faith in humanity.

This is all in hindsight of course... for the first six months afterwards I was pretty fucked up. :)

Back on topic: Other stupid things I've done? Drink driving, and getting caught a month ago. I lost my licence for 6 months. Now that was dumb. That, was all my dumb fault.

I didnt put the park brake on in my 4WD and it rolled down the hill into my parents house. That is the dumbest thing I ever did- and the most careless.:( :( :p

Also getting married young was probably dumb- I should have waited until I was a bit older. But love makes you do silly things;)

Ha! i have done plenty of dumb things. Dating one particular guy named Warren was one stupid stupid thing i have done in the past. He only lasted a month though. Taking up smoking in the first place was another.

It was when I was 13-14.

I got offered a smoke for the first time, and I accepted.

After the smoke, I went down to the store and bought a pack of smokes. They went in 2 hours.

5 years on, I've managed to quit quit a few times. Once for 7 months, and the most recent quit was for 4 months.

Needless to say I'm back on smoking again :(

i was at the atms one night whilst on pills and got about 100bucks out. my phone started ringing while i was getting the money and in the hurry to get it out of my bag i dropped everything everywhere.

some guy offered to hold my money and bag while i was picking everything up.. which totally made sense at the time. needless to say he ran off with the money. but he left my bag there.. it could have been worse.
anyways the moral of my story is dont let strangers hold your cash.
