Not "psychedelic" in the traditional sense, but... the "darkest" trips I've experienced were had when combining alcohol and cannabis. It's like, by drinking alcohol, you're adding a type of fuel into your system. As it's building up, you are becoming less aware in certain ways, and more uninhibited. Then when weed is added, it's like lighting off the fuel, and the amount burned is proportional to the amount of pot taken. The alcohol continues to try and render certain parts of your mind unconscious, but the cannabis won't allow it. I've found myself crawling on my belly through the mud at 1:00 am in the morning, thinking people were spying on me with hidden cameras. Or I'd hear people's thoughts in my head. Or I'd think the laughing next door was aimed at me, that the people over there were watching me through a camera and having a good-old time. All while on the verge of puking.
Alcohol & cannabis can be a bad, bad combo. It's like giving yourself chemically-induced schizophrenia. The shit really only starts to hit the fan when you've taken 1 hit ^ the line though; before that it's all fun & games
Back when I used to pop CCCs, I'd have plenty of dark-themed imagery, like trains with huge teeth traveling across a barren desert, robots tearing through flesh, scratches being etched on my brain. But while the content was often "dark," the trips themselves really weren't, since I was usually having a nice time.
On my 2nd (and best) mushroom trip, I felt very disconnected from my body. Funny, it started out very dark, but ended very bright. *sigh* I love magic mushrooms
