What is the best most relaxing metal to listen to?while sleeping or chillin?

I like slower/sludgy stuff when I'm sitting back with a joint or something. Electric Wizard, Weedeater, Bongzilla, Om, Sleep, etc.
 
Some Opeth, Isis, The Angelic Process, Ulver, BLUT AUS NORD.

Thematic Emanation of Archetypal Multiplicity and MoRT are great. Dark, eerie and quite ambient.

For relaxing I'd probably say anything similar to the following:

Agalloch
Alcest
Burzums prison albums
Empyrium
Falkenbach
Ikuinen Kaamos
Opeths more acoustic pieces?

Stuff like that I guess
 
Middian is pretty nice.

Also try Unearthly Trance, My Dying Bride, Candlemass, Sleep, The Ocean (select songs, they have some nice low tempo tracks), Isis, all of Nile's instrumental tracks, Crowbar, Down, Moonspell, etc.

Benediction's cover of Anvil's "Forged in Fire" is probably my fav stoic infinite void headspace kinda track.

Down's Bury Me in Smoke is the ultimate stoner's anthem. The outro is just perfect.

Theyre not typically a relaxing atmosphere, but Immortal's Antarctica is quite chill (pun fully intended). Actually I find the intro and outro to this track to be really vast, spacey, real chill.
 
^I just watched Anvil: The Story of Anvil for the first time yesterday, I loved it. It's funny and a bit like Spinal Tap but really comes through as a heartwarming story about friendship, perseverance and love of music in the face of failure. Terrible music, great people ;)

OP, I feel like I've been recommending Burzum in all your threads, but some of his ambient stuff is good for chilling in my opinion. Filosofem is, in my opinion, the best dark ambient and probably the best black metal recording ever put out.

Relaxing might not be the best word for how I find Burzum, but the music gives me a strange sense of peace in a way, and I can chill to it for sure.
 
Naw it's a band, the solo project of Varg Vikernes who was the bass player of Mayhem until he killed the guitarist and was put away for the murder as well as 4 church arsons. He comes out of the early Norwegian black metal scene, which produced some of metal's most dark and badass music ever.

Very interesting music I think, almost experimental metal.
 
I'd say Iron Maiden's newer stuff would be good. From about Brave New World to their new album is full of some beautiful/melodic songs you can relax to.

Fuck, I wish my dreams were as epic as Iron Maiden tunes. But I rarely recall my dreams and if I do they are usually about doing ordinary shit like putting on shoes or reading the newspaper...lame

Surely Rundtgåing av den transcendentale egenbetens støtte is the most ambient track on filosofem...? But yeah, the two Gebrelichtet tracks are great.

Something by Darkspace or Paysage d'Hiver might be the best stuff to sleep too...
