What is the answer to life?

the meaning of life is to enjoy it......

i learned that in my first pyschedelic experience (3g of shroom) and since then my life has been much better than it was before... i am much happier and attempt to enjoy every situation, regardless of how dreary it may be....

however, "to enjoy it" is just my interpretation on what life is really about... everyone else should have their own one that works best for them

Now thats not true!

Maybe it is... I don't really own anything. So I must be a loser!
I dunno, I kinda feel like i'm waiting for "life" to begin. I need to start college, make some money, make some more realationships, connections, drug dealers. I have yet to have a meaningful relationship with someone. Oh well, life goes on. Things can only get better, or worse.

I suppose the answer to life would be understanding.

Wrong, David, and all you Hitchhiking fans, the answer is not 42.

It's 216. Go watch Pi and have one intense mind fuck. Watch it again if you didn't get the subtleties in that movie, it's worth those extra hours.

216 isn't important its the digits that matter. 216 is just the number of digits that make up the name of god and everything. The movie is good but isn't a "mindfuck" by any means at all.. and I watched it a couple times.

Ah, it's so deep. Gives you a new meaning of life. Tells people not to look for the answer or beginning, but to see life as it is and enjoy it. That's why they almost died when they almost figured out the number - we're not meant to understand it.

I was talking mindfuck in a movie type sense, not a psychological one. It's great cinemotography ;) and well done.

Does anyone here get life? It just seems to me like life is a cosmic joke. The value of life is all important and at the same time meaningless. Everyone I know has problems that they can't solve. You can't solve others problems. "If I could tell you the answer to your problems, I would, but you could never understand, because you have to learn for yourself."

I wish someone could give you advice on how to solve all your problems, but they can't. Religion is the answer to some, but it holds no real answers to everyday problems. Religions like Christianity and Buddhism can change your belief system and make you see the world for what it really is. The world is full of suffering. Not one person on Earth isn't suffering right now. Love is necessary to hate and hate necessary for love. Having neither love or hate is to be empty, not living at all. No one can understand you mind because even you don't understand it.

No one loves me and I don't love anyone else. I am a sinner. I never lie. Truth is the only thing we have. You think you know god? You think you know better than god? You think you can explain life? Maybe there isn't a god but, if you go against the natural order of the universe, you will get hurt. Doing drugs, lying, cheating, sinning, and being self centered all hurt yourself and the ones around you. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Everything you do has consequences. The only way to learn from your mistakes is through pain. The pain of a loved one or the pain in yourself can teach you about life. Change is pain. Change is good. No one can understand the answer, because there is no answer. The world is filled with self centered idiots who cannot understand the value of a sunset, or a kind soul. The world is filled with those who hate their fellow man.

Those who have it all don't even know it until it's taken from them. Some wouldn't even understand then. You can have it all and still want to end your life for the stupidest reasons. Other people aren't worth your trouble because they will fuck you over and backstab you in the end to benefit themselves. It will come in one quick stab or a gradual bloodletting over years. Love is one of the most powerful forces in the world, but it is also the most destructive force in the world. Love destroys friendships, lives, and countries.

"Once you realize that there really is no purpose to your life and there is no one there to give you answers, you are forever tortured with that knowledge." -*SWeeT-e* Ignorance is bliss, but you will never understand the reasons behind your problems through ignorance. It is not the solution. There is no solution. Only god can understanding everything there is to know and he doesn't even understand everything, that is why he created us. You’d think that when mankind understood their reason for existence and the mysteries of the universe there would no longer be a need for us to exist. Those who think they know it all are fools.

The thinkers, and midnight ponderers Life is full of paradoxes, hoops and mazes. Those who can navigate them all long enough will receive the reward, death.
Everyone has it backwards; neither the optimists nor the pessimists have it right.

I look forward to input, though I warn you I might feel completely different tomorrow.

Such depth and enlightenment from a person that has steve urkle as an avatar... :\

Life doesnt have a meaning or point..... but this is a good thing, not bad.

If life had a meaning then that would be proof of fate/destiny which means ultimately we have no control or free will.

AGREE! If life had purpose, we would all be mind-controled working ants (or bees =D)

WE APOLIGISE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE

hehehehehe

you're just gonna frustrate yourself wanting to know the answer to everything. life is about journeying through happiness and realising that you dont have much time in the greater scheme of things....so you might as well make the most of it.

its that simple. you dont have to go on philosifising that much and breaking youre brain...thats what drugs are for!

lol

I had Meatwad as an avatar when I posted that. I guess Meatwad promotes my intelligence and good taste a little better than Urkel... But he's so damn funny looking!

Wow! What a rant. You wrote about buddhism, but you fail to recognize the eastern belief of god. Also, inadvertently called yourself a fool.

I believe we are all god, and the god in me recognizes the god in you.

Just follow your bliss.
"Don't let the bastards grind you down" and fight the fights worth fighting.

I could get into a deep discussion about creationism and how I believe the ever expanding branes we call our universes are just a mechanism for randomness that creates every conceivable and non-conceivable possibility. However, I fear that nobody will understand or even try to.

I Agree and understand.

I don't recognise Bhudda as a god. I put faith in the Christian god and use Bhudda as more of a mentor.

Try me, seriously.

"Truth is the only thing we have."

Terribly sorry, but we don't even have that. Truth is subjective. Please define what you mean by "truth," for I don't want to argue over a misunderstanding.

"Doing drugs, lying, cheating, sinning, and being self centered all hurt yourself and the ones around you. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Everything you do has consequences."

Sort've like karma? Well, self-destructive activities DO have bad consequences. It's not the "there is an equal and opposite reaction" idea here. It's more causality. Actually, what you're saying is incredibly proposterous.

If you eat cake or sweets, you get the consequence of getting sick. But if you eat strawberries, which taste as good as sweets to you, you get healthier.

It seems to me that you are putting "sinning" as the main cause of bad consequences. Then, what is sinning exactly? Things that are accepted as "morally wrong"? Or actions that hurt yourself and others. I'll accept the latter, but now you're getting into a moral issue. If you want to talk about life objectively, then you must forget all that moral bullshit when you talk. Otherwise you're preaching moralistic ideas to others.

"The only way to learn from your mistakes is through pain. The pain of a loved one or the pain in yourself can teach you about life. Change is pain. Change is good."

So, what you're saying is pain is good. But humans naturally move away from pain and towards pleasure. It's hedonism, and every organism follows it. But, you're saying that humans, perhaps life, moves towards the "negative" or "bad" spectrum of things, as we seek pleasure and not pain. I'd ask you to explain, but obviously you haven't thought about that.

"No one can understand the answer, because there is no answer. The world is filled with self centered idiots who cannot understand the value of a sunset, or a kind soul."

So one is an idiot if they do not understand the value of a sunset? I think everyone values it everyday. If there wasn't any sun then we couldn't see where we were going (unless we had electricity). If you're talking about the beauty of a sunset, there are tons of people who enjoy watching the sun set.

"The world is filled with those who hate their fellow man."

Men are animals. Animals need to survive. Animals will do anything to survive. They will even kill their own kind in order to survive. People are the same. We just think we're somehow different.

"I believe the ever expanding branes we call our universes are just a mechanism for randomness that creates every conceivable and non-conceivable possibility."

Like a computer continually generating numbers in order to find every number in existance?

"We can not try to find the answer to life until we find out what the question is..."

Exactly.
