I'm asking the fucking questions!
Pretty quick simple question, I have utfse on google and found nothing interesting

What exactly is it? I believe it is a tranquilizer?
Does neurontin hold any recreational value?
If so, what is the active recreational dose?
And finally how long does it last,?

Many thanks in advance,
Nolys

Yeah, it can be recreational, not very, but yeah. Its drug name is gabapentin, and is GABA-ergic so it works on GABA in the brain somewhat like benzos, alcohol etc., but not as good. Take 300 mg initially, and see where that gets you. It should be somewhat relaxing.

im not sure exactly how long it lasts but im prescribed it 400mgs 3x daily so i guess maybe 5 or 6 hours. It holds some recreational value but tolerance to any euphoric fx builds extremely fast... like if i havent taken it for a while my rx'ed dose will mess me up but when ive been dosing daily i won't feel anything as early as the 2nd day of consecutive dosing..

Oh and alex is pretty spot on with regards to fx. When non-tolerant to it it gives you benzo-ish floaty fx

Thanks for the replys people, I only have 1 300mg my friend left here a long time ago anyway, and was just wondering if I should try it or not.
Would a beer or 2 increase euphoria like it would with codeine or benzos? The only real tolerance I have to anything is mdma and alcohol so I should get a bit of a buzz shouldn't I?
Thanks again

With neurontin, I believe the maximum dosage is 800mg 4 times a day. As well as being helpful for pain, in a similar way as lyrica, muskulo-skeletal types. Nuerontin or Gabapentin, has also been used as a mood stabilizer. I used to take 600mg 3 times a day but it only seemed to make me feel kind of loopy, and not in a fun high way, just kind of out of it lol.

It is NEURONTIN, not NEUROTONIN, for the record. I am going to edit your title for the sake of the search engine.

If you use the search engine, using the term NEURONTIN, and change it to 'search titles only', you will find many threads pertaining to this substance. It is very similar to lyrica in nature.

*Also, this is very basic material, so I am going to move this to basic drug discussion for you. I feel like you'll have better responses over there.

Gabapentin (generic version of Neurontin) is actually an anti-convulsant used for epilepsy, but is used off label as an adjuvant in pain management (and is normally used for neurological pain) and also as an anxiolytic as well as for many other things. I'm prescribed 800mg 3x daily for nerve pain and I haven't really seen a whole lot of potential for abuse.

Gabapentin, as the name suggests does affect your GABA receptors in a fashion somewhat similar to benzos and barbs, but I've heard people compare the effects more to alcohol, To me it felt nothing like any of the above. The first time I tried them was 300mg along with Cannabis, which significantly overpowered them. The next time I sampled some I took 2400mg and it was not pleasant. The only thing that felt similar to benzos was the uncoordinated movements and slurred speech, it had no anxiolytic effects for me, and produced much more of a mental fog then benzos, I was also very agitated at basically anything. The most annoying side affect was what I call brain zaps, simaler to those felt when I tried to abuse Buspar (not recommended) The exact mechanism of action according to Wikipedia, is much disputed. Needless to say, as with anything start slowly and work your way up, as the mechanism of action is unknown and you have no idea how its gonna affect you.

gabapentin has very little recreational potential IMO. Just makes you feel like a space cadet and super zoned-out... It does have an extremely large therapeutic window so in terms of toxicity/dose-response you really don't have to worry. Some people like it, and some don't.
