What is barbiturates?

Barbituates are relatively powerful depressants. They used to be perscribed for sleeping disorders and anxiety, but were highly addictive and dangerous, so were replaced by modern benzos like valium and xanax.
If you look hard enough, they're still around, just really uncommon.

Yes very powerful, very dangerous, very easy to o.d. on the shit.
Banned in most countries.I remember taking some (or maybe not - remember that is), and they tell me I ran around exposing meself (geezers another Jim Morrison) and running amok.
Nimbies (nembutol),reds (seconal),and tooies(tuinol) were very popular. And i must admit i did have fun on them. You become very disinhibited and will do almost anything. And the high is like having lots alcohol - that very merry feeling - without their side effects.

These days the only barbituate you really see is butalbitol, and it's in small amounts, mixed with something like caffiene and APAP ... the good old barb's like Nembutal (pentobarbital) and Seconal (secobarbital) are very rare, as they have a high abuse potential and an overdose CAN be fatal...
