I have the goddamn bad luck to have some kind of impairment of cyp2d6. However it's not enough to stop me from using dxm, hydrocodone, or codeine. (i also tend to smoke a lot of downer pot, of which cbd supposedly inhibits 2d6).

I once heard a rumor somewhere that alcohol speeds up 2d6. Anyone know if this is true?

Currently it takes about 2.5-3 hours for hydrocodone to come up for me (it is definitely a "prodrug", and dxm experiences are really long lasting. When i smoke a bunch of pot, it is even worse - hydro pretty much never kicks in fully, and with dxm the dxm/dxo ratio becomes uncomfortable.

Any ideas?? If it's as simple as drinking a beer or 2 that would be cool, but i suspect i'm out of luck.

edit: anyone know anything about using dexmethasone infrequently to do this?

All the known inducers of CYP 2D6 have very bad side effects (rifampicin and dexamethasone).

I'm enzyme deficient also... it sucks. DXM could be much more interesting for me, but instead it is too uncomfortable and lacking in any dissassociative effects from the DXO.

Codeine is ineffective in me also, as it must be converted in the liver into morphine to become effective. I never noticed problems with hydrocodone though.

I doubt that if you have a genetic problem with it theres anything you can do to increase it's effectiveness. If there is, I'll be the first to try it and then try DXM to see if the trip is finally better.

Glutethimide!!!!!!

Always wanted to try this rare sedative, and its also a CYPP450-2D6 inducer, so combined sedative enhancement and greater metabolism of DHC and codeine =D

Me wants some.
