YES JUST BE HONEST.
My dr prescribed me sub FFS when I was on tramadol. I told him exactly what happened. I had tried multiple times to stop my usage of opium, tried switching to tram so I could taper down, and wound up being thrown in wds as well as a hypertensive crisis.
Was on the tram for 2 weeks when I decided I simply couldn't do this thing alone.
Did a ton of reading, and wound up finding **THEE BEST DOCTOR ALIVE** on this site:
https://www.treatmentmatch.org/patients.cfm
Treatmentmatch is a gold mine of sub doctors. I got 6 responses within the first 2 days from drs who knew I was on tram and were willing to put me on sub. I got to cherry pick the cheapest.
ALL you need to do is take exactly what you wrote here, and go to that site. It will automatically send your message to hundreds of drs in your area free of charge, and the drs will CONTACT YOU saying something simple like "I believe I can help you". They will never guarantee help obviously but 99% of the time that translates to "I will prescribe you sub". Then you simply go in and get treated, walk out with a script.
Quickest and easiest thing I've ever done in my life.
W/out resources like bluelight and NAABT I could have very likely killed myself trying to come off opiates w/out any medical resources. These drs will also help you get off the suboxone when the time comes. Mine is going to prescribe me clonidine, ambien, and a yet to be determined sedative for when I'm ready to taper the sub. He's allowing me to do it at my pace, he's quick, thorough, compassionate, I love my fucking dr honestly. Everytime I go in to see the guy I give him a hug. I can't tell you what type of rut I was stuck in only 4 months ago and now I have a job, a girl I've been seeing, graduated from my uni, eating healthy... and I have noone other than BL and NAABT to thank for that.
Good luck getting your life together! Sub CAN make that happen. Just remember when its time to come off the sub go sloooowww. Can I drop from 4mg to 3mg in one week and not feel much of anything? Sure. But that doesn't mean anything really. It takes your brain much longer than a week to catch up with the changes in biology. And I think this is why paws fucks with so many addicts. We judge how we come off opiates by how our body is feeling, not our minds. "Yes! No hot flashes today! Guess I can drop again!" But then things start to just seem dark and dreary... and most of the time its because people come off way to quick. They don't pay full attention to these very slight changes in emotion while tapering as they are always focused on the physical wds. But if you use your depression as a guide rather than your body, I believe once you finally come off there will be a lot less depression to deal with. Actually ALLOW your brain to adapt which can take weeks after a single drop in your dose.
In my position I'm getting homeopathic doses of sub made up (like .01mg) for when I jump off the strips (at .25mg). Yes there will still be a little bit in my blood, and I'm going to stay on that homeopathic dose for 3-6 months then stop completely. And I do believe at that point the trauma of paws will be barely noticeable. I just refuse to be one of those people that comes off sub cause I'm so gung ho to be clean and then I find myself thinking about suicide 100times a day cause I rushed it. Fuck being clean. I want sanity. So I'm taking my dear time coming off this shit.
