What has happened to PD in the last few weeks? I know ive only been here for a comparably short time but this is by far the most negative and hostile i have ever seen this forum. Its sad really, this place has always been one of my favorite part of bluelight. The posts are generally light-hearted and helpful and the discussions are civil, entertaining and informative.

But recently it has become a cesspit of opinionated views, crude insults and off topic comments. And i dont totally blame a certain newcomer here, it is all of us that have allowed this to happen (myself included).

Its fine to have your own views but dont seek to impose them on others.

Its fine to disagree but dont tell people to "fuck off" or whatnot

Its fine to believe deeply in something but dont spam every thread with your ideas, remember some people dont have the same beliefs as you. I dont believe in the Christian concept of God but i dont go around telling every christian i meet that "god doesnt exist."

I hope we can all stop this nonsense and get PD back to the helpful and informative place it used to be :)

There are a few things I cannot abide by and will not respond passively to or ignore: information I consider dangerous, information that is factually false or statements that insult or otherwise denigrate groups categorically based on their personal choices that do not harm others (e.g., virtually everything Teo has said about users of heroin, meth, etc.). I also reserve the right to be hostile to anyone who very obviously tries to make other people's legitimate threads about him and his pet causes, like Teo spamming about his "checklist" on threads with specific questions and discussions, without even trying to explain how it relates in the context of the thread.

If Teo stops doing all those things, I'll stick to making fun of his intelligence without the open hostility. Beyond that, I'll try to keep my hostility to a reasonable level - as I've said before, PM me if you feel I'm going too far, obviously if you're a mod but even if you're not, I don't want to make PD less pleasant for innocent third parties.
 
People need to stop being abrasive and condescending towards other peoples opinions. We will always have disagreements, but we need to be able to disagree and get our point across in a friendly manner. I believe we all are intelligent here, I mean, we are trying to communicate harm reduction and proper use of drugs, so we should be able to be intelligent enough to think about what we are saying and how we are saying it. Making statements saying people shouldn't take extracted drugs or synthetic drugs is crossing the line, just like telling someone to fuck off.
 
haha, i did mean PD, guess i got it confused cause P&S is my other favorite forum, sorry for the confusion. if a mod sees this and cares would you mind changing the title?

It saddens me a bit to see PD turn to this but im sure we will recover.:)

I havent had alot of time to be online to read/check/edit posts lately because im in the process of moving into a new home =D
But ill be back in a few days.

threads that turn into flame wars will be closed.:p

I'm partly responsible, but when I post something that I've thought out for about 20 minutes or so, rewritten a few times so it reads properly, and so that is defnitely not abrasive, and then a certain someone chooses to ignore ALL of the relevant information and take a cheap shot at you and proceeds to discuss how anything that's a plant is awesome and anything synthetic is the devil well yeah.

I'm not going to be posting anymore crude stuff, but don't get me wrong. I will most definitely be thinking it. Perhaps I'll just have to put the veil on it a little more.

And I will continue to be absolutely condescending to anyone who posts things that are the opposite of harm reduction. I don't care if it results in my being banned if it stops someone from believing the bullshit. (We don't all have a good radar, and those without should be considered first if we really want to "reduce harm". Being nice just doesn't cut the mustard sometimes)

Nah, but I really dig your posts :)

About the topic I really don't have much to say. One of my less harmonic ways of venting is dropping an unnessecary one-liner on a forum and sometimes bluelight is the victim. But at least I always make sure to be right when I do this. ;) I know I'm a piss in the nile compared to Quetzalcoatlus and his sworn enemies, though.
 
I think the best thing the posters can do to help aid the mods in keeping this forum friendly and full of love is report posts that are off topic, obstructive or just deserve attention from mods.

This will help us take care of troublesome posters. As we cant read every post in every thread, especially lately when alot of us have been busy with IRL stuff.

But like i said earlier, ill be back full time a few days and address the issues at hand.
 
Does anyone know how Samdhi-Smiles AKA Gaian-Planes is? I haven't seen him on the board for ages and I always enjoyed his posts. He had a positive approach to advice giving and was thoughtful tolerant influence in PD.
We need folk like that to keep the board on an even keel. Maybe someone could pm me if they have news.

PD is still filled with the same loving members it has had for a long time now. All things pass, and this will too. It seems our recent troubles have been instigated by at least one troublesome and abrasive poster. However, the fault cannot be entirely laid at this person's feet, as we all have a choice whether to respond to provoking posts, as well as how we respond if we do. If we hurl insults right back, are we any better?

If you had been here in 2003, you'd think this was nothing. Back then, the forum was full of cliqueyness, condescending and insulting posts being posted nearly every day. We've worked hard since then to root that vibe out of here, and I think we've done a damn good job. Sometimes someone comes in here and decides to be a dick, and frankly, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Almost anywhere else on the Internet is full of hate and negativity, but in PD we rarely need to moderate anything of the sort despite the forum being free to post in by anyone who comes across it.

That's not to say that there isn't anything we could be doing better. But you know, sometimes it takes a little incident to shake things up and get people thinking about how to progress something beyond what it currently is, or at least to continue to advance along the path it has been.

One thing I can definitely say is that we no longer have any tolerance for the sort of posting that has caused this recent increase in negativity, and will be infracting and eventually banning certain members if they do not stop. Their agenda is transparent, and they have no real interest in BL or PD, only in getting across their crap and spam.

I agree. Basically, he got banned. Repeatedly. At some point he began being extremely disruptive on other BL forums, SLR being the main one. I didn't follow that, mostly because he's my friend and it brought me pain that the other BL mods considered him to be one of the most disruptive posters here. I won't go into what was accused because, frankly, he's never been anything but wonderful to me, or to PD. I think it boils down to a bit of an authority complex, and he and I talked about that. But the way we run PD here is different from the way most of the other BL forums are run. I think he felt like he was being suppressed, and it brought out a bad side of him. And unfortunately, though we begged, he wouldn't stay out of the other forums. And unfortunately, BL has an all-or-nothing policy - if you can't behave on one forum, you're banned from all of Bluelight, so he couldn't just be restricted to PD. This controversy actually caused quite a bit of heat in PD, and one of our mods resigned over it.

He lives in the same town as me but he's often traveling the world. I think he's doing well. But that's why he's no longer here. A shame. A real shame. But there is a reason.

Man I'm not gunna lie, I think Andy getting banned was a catastrophic loss to the PD vibe. That was a really shitty and unnecessary event for all parties involved, it would have been really nice if both sides could have come to a compromise and stuck with it-- it's really a shame that couldn't have happened for whatever reason.

Also, just in general a lot of once-prolific posters have moved on-- which is not a bad thing, its just different. But we need to work hard to continue cultivating the underlying spirit of the community.

I'm kinda trying to lay off BL for a bit for now actually; I realized my behavior has been really weird lately, and I don't feel like myself-- and I think my BL posts have kinda reflected that. Too much adderall, academic stress, relationship issues, anxiety, excessive pot use, and not having any time to reflect and use healing psychedelics-- it all adds up to me kind of becoming an opinionated, reductionist asshole. When all the shit with Teo started, it really made me look at myself-- and maybe I've been toxic to the environment here too. Feels colder here recently, but maybe that's just because I feel colder and my interpretation of the forum is affected by that. So I'm gunna try to limit my time here for a bit, and clean my life up and shit-- I'll get back to you guys when I feel healthy again.

I love you all, seriously. :) <3 Feels like home here. PD is really one of the coolest places on the internet, and I hope that never changes.
