What happened to the Philly dope market????

Hey...A friend used to cop in northeast philly, by turning down a few specific blocks he would be able to find anything he needed...I guess this is why they say philly has the biggest open air dope market in the US...
He tried going back a few days ago and it seems that things aren't the same...Theres cops around (not an overload but there definetly present)But there was no one shouting anything or offering like they used to...what happened?? Is the market still there? Perhaps moved a couple streets or has there been a crackdown?

I don't go to Philly to pick up stuff, but I found out a lot of info by just doing a search of the Philadelphia Inquirer. From what I can gather there seems to have been a MAJOR drug sweep against the open air markets in Philadelphia in the past week. Mayor Street calls it "Operation Safe Streets." What's interesting is that the articles from the paper give out a lot of spots (which may be useful when things get back to normal.) Here's a few articles that talk about what's going on in Philly:

out of curiosity, having lived here for nearly all of my life, where in NE philly was there ever an open air drug market?
are you sure you're not thinking of somewhere like north philly, kensington, or frankford?

My spot in Baltimore gets hot like that every once in a while. Nobody will be out shouting and chances are if you ask someone they will sell you some crushed up drywall.
But when there are crackdowns like this, they usually only last a few days, as the city can't afford to keep it up.
Just try again next week.

This is really off-topic... drug markets will sometimes be running really good, othertimes they are dea.. it can be attributed to many things.. the cops may be cracking down on an area now but give it a week and it will let up...
