If you don't mind me asking, do you still have a period on the implant?
I know everyone is different though.
Unlike a lot of people I react VERY well to the depo. 0 side effects.
Birth control has always been a good thing for me. Keeps me more stable, in less pain and even helps my skin!

Hi, had my implant put in mid December and still had no bleed (except for a few days of spotting just after having it in) and no moody side effects whatsoever.

I also had no periods when I was on depo injections, though they did make me moody probably because there's more hormones involved (I'm very small so it might be related) and same with the IUS (I took it out because the strings interfered with sex). So my money is that reactions to the implanon have to do with the way your body reacts to progesterone, and mine has been positive. Anyway, long-time use of the depo shot ain't good for you...

i've been on the pill for about 11 years now and never had an issue with taking it. it's sort of second nature by now. i'm on Seasonique and though it's a little expensive ($175 for 3 months), my doctor is usually really good about giving me free samples or coupons that range from $25 - $50. plus, i save a significant amount of money on feminine products since i have an extremely light period that lasts a single day and only have it 4 times annually.

I just make guys wear condoms.

1) i'm not in a commited relationship, so I still have the worry of STDs and the pill or something obviously doesn't protect against that.

2) I don't want to pay for birth control

3) I don't want to risk gaining weight or any of those type side effects.

I would consider an alternate form of BC if I knew my partner was clean, because condoms really aren't that much fun :/

My copper IUD will be turning age 2 in June. :) Like others, I got it at Planned Parenthood after years of battling due to never having been pregnant.

No real complications; story in SLR archive if anyone is interested.

It will be taken out if I ever plan to conceive.

After the birth of my last child, I had my tubes tied. Then 2 years after that I found out I had ovarian cancer,so I had a full hysterectomy at the age of 27.

Ditto, except I've only had mine for 7 months but BEST DECISION EVER! Hormones= crazy mood swings and body changes.
No hormones= much less crazy (and still no babies)

i am very glad that IUD's are becoming a more viable option for women in the US.
amen!

Wow, you are lucky Pillthrill! When I was on Depo, I gained weight, got depressed, and had NO sex drive... (my bf at the time and I joked that that was how it really worked haha)... I also felt really asexual/uncomfortable not having periods. Glad it's working for you, though.
Of the hormonal options, the nuva ring gave me the least amount of side effects.

None. I haven't had sex with a woman in awhile and even then I just did things that don't involve birth control like giving oral sex, giving S&M, making out and masturbating her.

I use condoms on dildos/plugs/vibrators that get put into/used on other men but that's not for birth control.

I use Implanon because of the fact i'm terrible at remembering to take a pill every day at the same time. When my guy and I got together, I didn't want to risk our early relationship on falling pregnant accidentally if a condom broke or something just because i'm crap at remembering to have my pill.

Exactly same reason as me!

fuckin rubbers.

but on the plus side i guess im not gonna get an STDizzle and they make me last longer. then again im always with the same girl so i take back the STD thing no worries there

I take the pill for period cramping/ovarian cyst reasons, so I don't have a choice at this point but to be on it unless I want 12 days of bleeding along with vomiting monthly. So I guess it's birth control too...I rarely have sex, but usually I'll make the guy wear a condom because of the STD risk too.

I also wanted to add that unless I see the STD-free printout, I use a rubber. Those pesky germies!

Yeah Becky, I have noticed that I'm less sexual when I'm on the depo but it works so good that I put up with it. My bf and I try really hard to work through that kind of thing.
I actually went in and got the implant today. Didn't hurt too bad. But my arm is swollen and bruised where it is. Feels kinda strange when I poke it. But my bf and I have decided not to have kids right now and this seems like the most fool proof way to go.

Withdrawl and Emergency Contraception (plan B) incase of an accident (which happened once..) Torward the end of my wife's cycle I won't withdraw since it's pretty unlikely (impossible?) for sperm to survive through her menstral until she ovulates again next cycle. Considering getting her Mirena though... we've lived together 2 1/2 years... so far so good
