^yes! Then we decided to have a family and had 2 kids. We used condoms from then on without fail. Now we are sure we don't want any more kids, I decided to get the snip.

^it won't fail until it does :) my experience anyway...

When I voted on this poll I said condoms - but 4 days ago I got the snip! My scrotum is still bruised and I'm walking a bit gingerly...

A few more weeks of condoms, then I send a semen sample in for testing, and then au naturale :) It's very exciting.

Ah yes, the "pull out game" is a game I'm very familiar with... It's a game most people are bound to lose eventually though....

I know alot of people will disagree with my point of view, but i'm completely against condoms. I believe that all you really need is the pill and to be careful and selective about who you choose to have sex with. As well as regular testing for STD's.

i don't know. i guess when i first became sexually active i just never thought about it. i just became used to not using one and now when someone suggests we use one it's just weird for me. :\

I guess the problem with relying on partner selection and testing is that there's no actual "prevention" in place wrt STIs - you just eventually end up with one (or more) if you have enough partners.

Of course if you and your partner only have sex with each other, then testing and contraception is eventually sufficient (once you have passed the window period for the various sti tests - around 3 months)

the shot was my favorite. it lasts a long time, requires no thought on my part, and there's something reassuring about a shot to the ass. when its time to get back on something, it'll be the shot or i'll try an IUD for the first time.

currently not on anything since i decided dating and sex was ultimately useless and unfulfilling due to my current problems.

on the odd occassion it happens, condoms. that would have been months ago at this point.

I used to be on the pill for like 6 years, and then decided to switch back to good old condoms... in the scientific community, there is contradicting evidence about the health effects of BCPs, especially long-term use(i.e. increased risk of CERTAIN cancers/potential for infertility) , so I only used them for as long as I felt like I absolutely had to (i.e. when it would've been entirely devastating to get pregnant - namely for me this was teenage years and college years). Of course, when used correctly, BCP are the most effective method... I'm 24 now, and although I don't intend to get pregnant for like another 5 years, I feel safer with condoms...

Been there, done that and boy, I had no idea my balls could get so big! I swear they were the size of a grapefruit! I know this was years ago, but at the time (and now I suppose) I'm very glad I had it done when I did. I've always been in monogamous relationships and I love the idea of finishing inside, so to speak. There's nothing like it. I will warn you that the first time or two of ejaculating, it's a little scary (a bit painful even) but after that, you're good to go. My wife and I loved how spontaneous we could be not having to worry about what time of the month it was or if her diaphragm was in etc. etc. Just go with the flow. Good luck dude and ENJOY!

I've been on the pill for about two and a half years because I know that if I only used condoms I would be permanently stressed out about the error margin. Also the pill helps me keep my weight stable :\
And this way when I was with my long-term boyfriend once we'd gotten tested we didn't need to use condoms which was awesome.

^^^ I have not heard of it being called FAM, but have heard it called NFP (natural family planning) actually FAM could be fertility awareness method maybe?

Anyway, I have practiced birth control in this way for seven years now. You have to be committed to paying attention to what your body is telling you...half assing it will result in pregnancy. At this stage, I just pay attention to things like my cervical mucous....thin, slippery, slightly stretchy is a dead giveaway for fertile times. Also, you can assess the position of your cervix...I have only done this a couple of times because you really have to reach up there. Also, changes in libido...most women get way hornier around fertile times.

When I first got into it, I tracked my BBT (basal body temp) and charted it. You have to be faithful in doing so, and to do it, you have to take your temp vaginally in the morning before getting out of bed. A normal cycle will start to rise and then your temp will peak at ovulation. It is important to note that most pregnancies result in sperm that was deposited two days or so BEFORE ovulation, so if you are trying to avoid pregnancy, it is good to see when your temp starts to rise and avoid those times.

It is awesome. I was able to get pregnant when I wanted to within three cycles by charting, and have been able to avoid pregnancy now for 6 years despit an active sex life. It also goes with saying that I am in a position that if pregnancy happened, it would be ok. Also, obviously this method is not for everyone, but it gets a lot of unfair negative reactions. My own ob/gyn is a dick about it. But I would rather rely on a method that has been passed down by generations of women rather than a bunch of synthetic hormones ( I was on the pill for ten years prior to this).
