I meant cases of people who really want to seem cool to other people because they think of opioid addiction and having contacts to buy morphine or heroin as a great thing, often opioid addicts struggling with stronger opioids are like "heroes" to them (literally, not like "heroin" and "hero"). It's weird as fuck but I mean it and I know such people exist as they chatted on an IRC channel I used to visit quite often once upon a time. I was really regarded as a member of some supergroup by these people for some time until most of them started getting addicted themselves one by one and then they preferred to call me and other opioid addicts completely wasted junkies. And that was to justify their everyday use of codeine or tramadol, and some of them found their way to buprenorphine patches, fentanyl patches, or morphine pills, or even that bloody heroin from the street... Mere irony of fate.
Of course I was and am far away from being a hero and my addiction isn't a great thing. People who really have a problem with opioids don't shout about it, at least not like "I take morphine, I'm great!", these people can really be seeking some "absolution" because they struggle with their conscience. I know I did a lot of bad to the people who are the closest to me and there are times I can't get a grip on myself because of the guilt. And the beginners I meant rather seek confirmation what they do is not such a big deal but at the same time it's really something because codeine is an opioid after all.
