Just out of interest.
I recently had a tooth filled at a dentist,

i had 5 novacaine or lidocaine shots and it did Nothing.

I had to just put up with the pain as they drilled lol.
I wish i had done some ket but i werent sure, do you need loads to actually get an anaesthetic effect?
I mean a bump or 2? that wouldnt leave me too monged out but if it took the pain away.

Arghh i dont look forward to my next visit!!!! :(

I have daily chronic pain and for me just a little bump or two would help my pain better than my opietes would.

^ really?
i have daily back pain and it dont do it that long for me ?

next time i want to actually be numb when they drill, it does hurt, i dont want to have to have it done without anything again.

That really depends on a lot of factors; for one, how bad is your pain, do you have any tolerance etc. For me severe pain can require 150+mg to be surpressed completely while mild pain goes away from maybe 50mg, which also depends on tolerance; if I haven't done any in two weeks, 75 mg hits me as hard as 200 mg does if I've been doing it serveral days in a row, so I can't really give you a number. I couldn't even give you a concrete number how much I'd need for pain, and I have no clue how severe your pain is, how sensitive you are to both pain and the drug etc.
Why don't you just put out 10 mg lines and just take one every 5-10 min until the pain goes away? If that doesn't work because you come at a dose cap by the first dose wearing off when the last is kicking in make bigger lines and try the same thing? Also it works as a local anesteatic in the mouth the way that lidocaine etc do so you could, if you can bear the taste, hold some in your mouth, although most people find that a horrible thing to do :p
Personally if I have severe pain I need doses that get me strong effect too to cover up the pain; really low doses get me mental effects well before proper analgesia.

wouldnt it be a bit wiser to just talk with your dentist and say that you are in pain during the procedure? im pretty sure that they can prescribe various meds to help with it....
it depends from country to country really, in the us they use a lot of NO to mildly sedate patients... i suppose they have some alternatives in the uk as well. another thing would be to try and take some benzos, true they dont do much for the pain but chances are you will not care for it that mcuh nor remember it later on. again, i think docs can prescribe these in situations such as yours.

and seriously, if 5 novocaine didnt help.. are you sure they were properly done? have you seen a different dentist? like one that actually doesnt drill if it hurts? you are entitled to a second opinion...

best of luck mate!

I was always told that if you are an avid user of Ketamine you should tell your dentist, as it is an anesthetic, if you abuse it, when they go to give you other anesthetic type drugs *THEY WILL NOT WORK.

Take a couple of bumps and it will definitely take away most of the pain. I always end up with bruises on my shins from bumping into coffee tables or other things and wont notice them till the next day.

That. Sometimes it depends on severity of damage to the tooth. I had 4 fillings and 3 went well. 1 sucked ass. Each time I went loaded off my ass on various drugs but the 1 tooth was just so damaged and the nerve so exposed that even with the narcotics and other drugs I had (and I was nodding) I still felt that shit.
