what does your taste in music say about you?

you're ironic! :p

i'm currently in the same boat right now AR! though i've been learning to play guitar for the last 5-6 months so when i'm feeling musical i find myself trying to advance myself rather than listening to much of what i've got in the way of established artists. so if you go by that... i suppose it says that i'm a hard worker and that i strive for excellence! :D

and 4 days is an eternity on the interwebz!

I listen to obscure death metal bands for the most part, as well as a bit of black metal on the side.
I don't really think of these bands as embracing an angry or brutish intensity that others would often perceive them as doing...I think its often quite the opposite in most cases. They are not an outlet for any anger I may have as is the case with others, they are simply a pleasurable and very interesting source of entertainment for me :)
I think they embody my strange way of thinking, and my calm quite happy appearance has fooled many who thought I listened to more mainstream material...I have looked quite out of place at some of the gigs I have been to hehe
also things like Pink Floyd and the Beatles for when I'm in relax mode

first post on Bluelight, hello all =D

hello professor!

most of my friends that i hung out with circa 2001-2007 were all the exact same way. they were very chilled pothead types, very passive people, but listened to shit like gorgoroth, behemoth, necrophagist, etc. just brutal shit. it seemed like quite an anomaly to those who didn't know them all that well. :D

I recently watched the documentary 'Once Upon a Time in Norway'. I found the whole story of that lates 80's to early 90's Scandanavain Black Metal scene very interesting. How the sub-culture ended up just taking itself way too seriously and all the way into Suicidal Sacrafice, Church Burnings, Kidnappings and finally murder was almost unbelievable.

Given I ended up listening to the records that Mayhem and other similar bands put out at least confirms to me that I will give anything creative a try.

Has anyone else seen the short doco that was done on Gorgoroth and the bands singer Gaahl, man it was strange. Norway can sure look scary and beautiful at the same time.

I listen to mainly death metal ( like cannibal corpse) and deathcore shit but I listen to filthy filthy dupstep the way I look at it is , dupstep is like the metal of trechno and I love metal so it goes hand in hand , right ? I listen to metal because it's more technical with instruments and singing opposed to like 50 cent , and I don't fine it gets anger out since me being a lead vocalist for a death metal band but rather gets me pumped , ya know ?

Ego man , have you seen the movie metal : a head banger jearney ? It takes about black metal bands going crazy and burning churches and even earing babies ! It's pretty epic if you ask me

ironic like rain on your wedding day
or a free ride when you've already paid

Mwahahaha. :D

Yeah, I've kinda been doing the same thing really. I got stuck on one particular style for way too long and never really advanced all that much. Right now I'm in the midst of an experimental phase. Different tunings, and considering learning a bit of jazz guitar to broaden my horizons.

I wanna start learning how to play some of Polvo's stuff too. :)
