when someone posts a piece in words and no one replies, what does it mean?
Do they even get viewed?
Does the amount of replies indicate the quality of the writing?
Is opening your post and reading 3 or 4 constructive critiques better or worse for you than seeing zero replies?
Should they stop posting, or should they keep going until they get a response?
Do any of you feel unhappy that people have not responded by replying to your piece of writing?
Personally speaking, i've posted my pieces in here a few times, sometime they get a response, sometimes they don't. It's not a big deal to me...i just hope that they get read by at least one person. If one person reads it and is touched in some way, then i'm happy. Whether i get praise or not....means not that much to me. It's in the sharing that i find my pleasure. I really enjoy reading the pieces in here, as there is a huge amount of talent in this forum. Keep the ideas flowing and the imagination soaring... :)

I guess people should love whatever they write...be it dark thoughts, full of joy, love, anger, sorrow, pain, two sentences or two pages. People are putting into words who the essential in them is...i feel that it's very personal.
I think my main point in all of this (sorry for the "round-aboutness"-if there is such a word!) is that the fact that this came from your heart and should should be all the praise you need...be amazed that you could think of words (no matter how many syllables they contain) to describe you and the way you feel in the past, present and future. Not everyone can do this.
Just know that you've quite possibly brought a smile to someone's face, a tear to their eye, gave them butterflies in their stomach, made them think differently for a second or broadened their horizons just a little bit.
Keep going. Don't stop.

I was reading a poem written by a very old wise man who is very dear to my heart. I remember being very stunned and lookin in amazement-asking what does it mean....He looked at me with a grin and said "It's what it means to you" very simple, but it stuck with me.
My point, I read almost every post in this forum....and almost every one touches me in some way--but I have only posted maybe 2 replies.
Please, keep writing and posting...someone is reading and enjoying-bringing meaning to themselves.
Much love

I find that having replies to my posts, even non-constructive ones, makes me feel better about my work. I know its a petty ego stroking thing, but the more posts my work gets, the better I feel about it.
I try to post a reply to every piece I read. So I post a lot in this forum
Its nice to know that someone has read your work, and a post replying to it is evidence I suppose. :)

i make it a point to (at least when my time permits) to read every single thing that gets posted in this forum. for several reasons... 1) so that in the event its inappropriate, that it gets closed. 2) i love reading people's work. i dont always get a chance to reply to everything. i'd rather reply with something insightful rather than just :) or ((((hug)))). a person shouldnt be offended if no one replies, it doesnt mean no one read it. i've had works that no one replied to either at times.
Does the amount of replies indicate the quality of the writing?
not at all. i noticed a pattern in this forum: in time, we've all come to have our favorite "poets" and people tend to reply to the same people's poems without fail. so some posts naturally have more replies. but one really heartfelt reply can weight more than 20 replies, in my opinion.
Is opening your post and reading 3 or 4 constructive critiques better or worse for you than seeing zero replies?
replies dont always tend to be "constructive" in this forum, unless a person asks that their piece be "criticized", and that was the intent of this forum, as spelled out in the guidelines. we dont want to unintentionally "bash" someone's work without them asking for it. some people can be very sensitive about that (i know personally, i can be at times). Again, 0 replies is not a negative indication.
Should they stop posting, or should they keep going until they get a response?
Every case is individual. That's up to the poster.
Do any of you feel unhappy that people have not responded by replying to your piece of writing?
I'm indifferent on this. I know how hard it is to reply to EVERYONE'S pieces, so i cant be offended if mine gets no replies. But i try to think positively about it, and if i feel what i wrote is really important and i want to make sure people read it, i dont feel at all ashamed to bump it up to the top again.
one more thing....
there are numerous times where i've REALLY loved/related to a piece, but i just dont know WHAT to say about it. sometimes its just so deep and profound and ... GOOD... but i dont have anything equally profound to comment about it. i guess in times like that, and "I liked it" would suffice, and i'm guilty of saying to myself, i have to think about this one and respond to it later, and then forgetting :(
Hope that helps.
