what does an envelope with a black dot on it mean?

how come when i post a thread, and then go back to the page where my post can be found i see an envelope to the left of my question (just like all the other ones) but mine has a black dot on it. what does that mean? thanks in advance!

In Muppet Treasure Island receiving a black dot on a piece of paper means you are about to mutinied against and executed :D

In Bluelight however closed envelopes mean there is nothing new, and if there is a black dot on it it means that you have posted in the thread (I'm pretty sure). I'm not sure why it occasionally lights on fire though.

Yessir the black dot means you've posted in that thread. The flame indicates when a certain amount of people have posted in the thread.
