From the definition of "Speed" on Urbandictionary

"Speed also inhibits MOA-A and also forces glutamate to come into the synaptic space"

So you're telling me Amps and/or Methamps are MOAI's and Glutamate agonists?

From a study, GABA and meth
'(1), which in turn activates GABA-A receptors in the SNr (2), leading to a decrease in GABAergic nigrothalamic activity (3), an increase in corticostriatal GLU release (4), and a consequent long-term depletion of striatal DA content (5)."

DOES THIS MEAN IT IS A GABA -A AGONIST!?

Amphetamine
Dopamine: Agonist
Glutamate: Agonist???
MOA-A: Agonist???
Norepinephrine: Agonist
Serotonin: Agonist

Methamphetamine
Dopamine: Agonist
GABA-A: Agonist???
Glutamate: Agonist

Norepinephrine: Agonist
Serotonin: Agonist

you're going to the wrong place for starters. also speed is a slang term that's interchangeable with meth and regular amphetamine.

that's out of context and i'm no mind reader. if you're going to quote a study it's good practice to leave a link to it for referencing purposes.

Pharmacologic Treatment with GABA(B) Receptor Agonist of Methamphetamine-Induced Cognitive Impairment in Mice.

The GABA receptor system is known to play a significant role in modulating the dopaminergic neuronal system, which is related to behavioral changes induced by drug abuse.

that was quick to find because i'd had it bookmarked.

I only saw it on urbandictionary lol
I know amp/methamp are both known as speed

i was hoping to clear up which did what effects

what do you mean "which did what effects"?

DAT (dopamine), NE (norepinephrine) and 5HT (serotonin) agonism, as you've pointed out, are where (meth)amphetamines effects are produced.

MAOI and Amphetamine

MAOIs significantly slow down the breakdown of Dopamine, Serotonin, and Norepinephrine

Say someone took an MAOI and 0.5mg Adderall IR, any estimation on what that would be like?

Would it be like you took 50mg of Adderall, or would you not feel it... or...

come on, man. you've got googling skills obviously. and this is getting out of depth for BDD discussion and you're being extremely vague which is why i'm putting it in laymans terms.

Recently, glutamate has been implicated as an important mediator of damage to brain DA systems produced by METH, but the mechanisms underlying the changes in glutamatergic activity that culminate in "excitotoxicity" and damage the nigrostriatal DA system have yet to be elucidated.

Dopamine, Norepinephrine, and in the case of methamphetamine, serotonin.
It increases yo EPIC WIN by 1000000x
or at least smokin glass does.

some more reading material - Selegiline/Deprenyl and Stimulants FAQ from ebola?

it'd be appreciated if you read further than a few lines into a wiki article before you go posting a question here. especially making a new thread when you could have just asked in here as you already have, you're getting redundant.

Amphetamine may effect Glutamate and GABA systems in the long run, but that does not make it an agonist for those receptors. To my understanding, amphetamine is a dopamine agonist. Glutamate and GABA are involved in a lot of brain processes, such as inducing long-term changes in brain plasticity. These are long term processes, however, that are not effected directly by the amphetamine molecule itself. Changes in Glutamate/GABA transmission are essential to the addiction and brain changes that come from lengthy drug abuse, but this does not make amphetamine a direct agonist of those receptors. It effects them indirectly, or at least this is the impression that I get.
