What do you know about Berlin?

Politicians in Berlin have launched a campaign to rescue the city's legendary nightclub scene from the spectre of property investors in the hope of salvaging the capital's reputation as one of Europe's party hotspots.

A 'Music Board' fund of around €1m (£835,000) has been set up to help protect the city's shrinking club scene, which has been a mainstay of the economy since the fall of the Berlin Wall but has found itself increasingly squeezed out by real estate investors.

Hi pp, first of all sorry for annoying questions, but
can you recommend good place with experimental electro in Berlin (I mean not mainstream techno etc.)
and the second is, where can I get some normal quality weed out there?
will be very thankful for any kind of advises

Skipping the sourcing question, which is not allowed, how experimental do you want to get?

I know there are people in Berlin doing live coding and such like. It's probably the best place in Europe, perhaps the world, for experimental arts.

Shame I'm not there to enjoy it really!

EDIT I mean I know there are people doing all sorts everywhere, but Berlin seems to have a buzz about it.

suprized that questions are not allowed : ) perhaps somebody can help in PM? concerning music, I am really open to everything, more deep and interesting it goes the better, can you recommend some place?
 
You can find weed everywhere in Berlin. Ask anyone young and trendy and you shall receive.
 
Aye there's plenty weed in Berlin. There are parks that are basically open-air drug markets. One of them the dealers apparently just sell weed. If you can't get sorted just by chatting to someone then ask them about the park, I'm sure they will know what you are talking about. I can't remember the name of it at all though (& probably wouldn't be allowed to post it anyway).

anynoe with recent experiences or memories of Berlin? going there soon and wouldnt mind some pointers, touristy or not, im after a fun good time there...
but im going alone and my german is nonexistant....

Gorlizter park is a lovely place to visit - seems to have a bit of everything for everyone. Pretty busy all day but Teatime is popular with students etc. You can get the metro which stops a few moments walk from the main entrance. Ask any of the students etc that seem to gravitate to that area where the park is - may save you a bit of time walking in the wrong direction.

Depending on what you want to see the War Memorial is a strange place and worth a visit if you have spare time - aslo the Park next to it is amazing with live bands playing. We just happened to arrive for the Cannabis festival which was great fun, techno and pills one end of the road, clouds of smoke coming from the other.

The other visit which was great (but not worth going to the Museum for the one thing was) Jewish Muesum - if your not a fan of Jewish History or the building then I would say don't bother for the one exhibit (Metal Faces). Brandonberg Gate area is gorgeous, if you do the waterfront - then the gate - then the park its a brilliant day/night out.

Fernsehturm tower (TV tower) is another nice trip (if your into buildings etc) .
 
Um.. visit the Monster Kabinett! It's neat. And the swimming pool barge in the river. And the reggae beach bar. I forget the names but you'll find them if you Google. :)
 
is the place filled with tourists? are the locals friendly towards them? :-)
maybe some good places to start the evening off and meet likeminded people?
ive been there once before with work and seen the brandenburg gate and a lot of war related sites...
 
meh so im going to bump this thread...

give me some ideas for awesome places to eat, good food at reasonable prices! also, same goes for drink and other vices!
 
Kreuzberg! Filled with locals, mostly youngsters (under 35!) and a few tourists. Everyone I met in Berlin was friendly except this one old cunt on a tram who swore at me, he was probably a former Stasi agent :D
 
well im off today! wish me luck!
if any fellow bluelighters want to meet up let me know!

ill be hitting some common places first then later in the evenings see if i can get myself past the doors of the more famous venues :-)
