What do you carry for personal protection? Guns, knives, and mace Oh My!

Nothing, as I don't buy large quantities of drugs and enough people illegally carry guns in California that most muggers fear getting shot at. I've never held an operational gun, never really had a need to as I don't buy from dealers other than shrooms or acid once in a blue moon and I don't hang around sketchy people or gangsters.

I do carry a flashlight, though. Every man/woman should have one, it helps you see at night and in hard to reach places around the house, and doubles as a CA-legal makeshift kubaton if you ever need to defend yourself. I've never had to, but I carry my 2-AA mini Maglite to help me see while walking at night or if my bicycle's light dies. You can also use a powerful enough one to blind a mugger coming at you at night for a few seconds, then run or use the flashlight as a force amplifier if you feel like you can't run.

Nothing. Weapons are for cowards over here.
If i had to defend myself, my boots would be useful, but i've fended off attempted muggings without even having to threaten violence.
Body language speaks loud and clear, especially if you know how to use it to say "i'm not a victim or a soft target"

The people I deal with are people I can trust so there's no need for protection.

But I do live in a sketchy neighborhood so I have pink pepper spray attached to my keychain and I carry a pocket knife when I'm walking alone at night. You never know.

I own a pink tazer, but for some reason it won't produce a charge anymore.. oh well. I have yet to be in a situation where I use my knife or pepper spray.

Me too. I have been in a few potentially heavy situations with the kind of people that may be armed. I just relied on the fact that i had done nothing wrong, they were friends of sorts and never had issues with me. I never once felt in danger. But people that crossed these guys ended up in trouble...

Unfourtanetly here in the states, especially where I live people don't fight the way they should with their fists. If you don't have a gun here and you get in some shit you are fucked. It might not be like that all over the U.S. but where I am there is a bunch of punk thugs who just shoot for the hell of it.

I have my CWL but usually just carry the pepper spray on my key chain. If I do carry, it's my Star .45 acp. I've had it since I was in my twenties. I take it to the range just to keep sharp but I've never had to use it because it's not hard to keep yourself out of situations where needing a gun would come in to play but should I ever find myself there, I'm ready.

I think you poo poo over not finding yourself in sketchy situations a little too cavalierly, OP. Common sense, observational awareness and informed selectiveness will get you out of WAY more shit than any weapon you could carry. I really make it a habit to avoid people who have the potential to arbitrarily decide to just "burn their bridges". The downside to that strategy, obviously, is that in a pinch you're going to have more options for scoring than I am. At which point I just call you up and offer a decent commission for going over and copping from the psycho.

If you don't feel safe after drug consumpion, just do it in your house. Otherwise, do it with some friends. Carring a weapon while high isn't very safe.
I often carry knifes because I like knives very much but this doesn't have to do with drugs.
