What did they inject in me in the ER??

Hey guys, last friday night was at a frat party in my neighborhood with like 6 of my buds. One of my friends always starts shit and to make the story short he ended up talking shit to one of the frat guys (bad idea considering there were 6 of us and like 40 of them) and then he threw a swing at the guy. After that all hell broke loose I ran over to try and grab my friend and get the hell oughta there but ended up getting jumped by who knows how many guys. Dont know how we ended up getting out of there but when we got into my friends car we where beat to hell, many swollen shut eyes, lots and lots of blood, a broken nose. I got it pretty bad, both of my eyes where almost shut, one bleeding heavily dripping blood all over me and like 4 or 5 huge bleeding lumps on my head. I felt all dizzy and my sight was blurred. Anyways we were all a wreck, we all decided we needed to go to the Emergency room so we drove down south to Scripps Hospital. I remember everyone staring at us when we walked into the lobby. We were quite a sight. Anyways they told us that my friend definitely had a broken nose and I needed stitches on my left eye. So they put me in a bed and all I remember is signing some papers and then passing out. I awoke in the wee morning to the nurse lady sayin I am free to go and my friends are in the waiting room. (*Sorry this is soo long was just a fukked up night*) So I went home walked up stairs told my parents I would tell them all about it when I wake up and passed out untill I awoke at like 7:00pm. After I told my parents the whole story and I was examining my wounds I looked down at righy arm and saw what looked like a bug bite but it hurt all around it like a bruise. Basically the feeling you get after getting a shot. Soooo For the whole point of this post, what did they inject me with? Painkiller, Antibiotic...? This was my first time in the ER, so Im kinda clueless. Thanx fer any help.

well, that bruise on your arm was most likely where they put the iv in. see, instead of giving you multiple shots with needles, they just put an iv line into your arm, and then all they have to do is inject via the iv.
you probably got some saline solution, and maybee a little demorol or morphine. nothing too serious.

You'll know what you got when you get the bill. Friend of mine went in for IV meth od, and got a shot of ativan. That shot cost $97. Moral of the story is...get insurance.
 
The ER i go to is using Tordol more and more. id like to snag some demoral though one of these days.
 
$100 BUCKS FOR AN ER BILL? ARE YOU SHITTING ME? .. thats a god damn deal I tell ya.. when I didn't have insurance I NEVER got out of the ER without paying $250 ..
Now, as for the injection - the mark was from the IV, when you were admitted that started you on an IV drip of saline to hydrate you .. what drugs could you have got? Well, most likely you got something for pain - Demerol perhaps? You might have got a seditive like Versed, and yes, and anti-biodic ... just ask if you really want to know...

No...you misunderstood me. The shot (or 2) of Ativan cost $100. The total ER bill came to around $950. That was including lab work, but I don't think that it included the ambulance ride.

$950 is INSANE!!! in NZ that would be FREE, although i think theyve started charging for an ambulance, & we think thats lame!
 
Correct... when I took a friend to the ER (she pissed me off so I beat the shit out of her and broke a Bud Lite bottle on her face*) she was charged $9 for a single 5mg Vicodin ... talk about getting raped on the street prices!

i just spent a little more then 24 hours in the hospital and the bill came out to be $10,000. i have insurance but it only covers 75%. the cost there are fucking insane.
 
It's all free down in OZ, including the ambulance ride. Whether it's an OD or a broken arm, you don't pay shit! - Insurance or not.
 
US Healthcare.. what an oxymoron... we are only slightly better then 3rd world countries in how we make medical help available to people... we have addicits denied treetment because they don't have insurance - but we are willing to lock them up at a cost of over $100 a day in our prison system...
Oye, lets not further this, it could get ugly!
