Hey there bluelighters, long time lurker and first time poster here.
Tonight SWIM went out and took what her friend assured her was "MDMA", purchased in Leeds. At pre drinks SWIM had four small cans of pre mixed gin and tonic, spaced out over a few hours, and at about 1am SWIM had a very small bomb and snorted a little bump. After this, she had frequent dabs from the bag (rubbing on gums). She frequently topped up with dabs and snorted some more at about 3:30/4ish. The last dab she had was at around 5:30 am.
It is now 8am and she can't sleep, is experiencing stomach cramps, nausea, a racing heartbeat and can't seem to turn her brain off or focus on anything either. When she stands up, she keeps jiggling her limbs around (sort of dancing) to no music.
She also keeps chewing and sucking her lips, clenching her jaw and fists, fidgeting and poking her tongue under her top lip.
SWIM has had lots of lovely experiences on MDMA. She knows that pure forms make her feel happy, relaxed and empathetic. On pure MDMA she likes to curl up in a ball and have intense conversations with her friends. When she takes MDMA cut with something else, she feels the same euphoria but also has a strong desire to dance, jump around, talk to lots of new people and generally be very energetic. Also she can get very fixated on one thing and it is difficult to distract her.
But this doesn't feel like any of the MDMA experiences SWIM has had. She took mephedrone a few times back in 2010 before it became illegal and as far as she can recall, this is fairly similar. She always found it very difficult to sleep, and would experience a similar racing heartbeat and unconscious lip chewing and tongue running around her mouth. However she didn't experience the same unpleasant dripping sensation after snorting this substance. The substance she consumed didn't give her the same lovely, tingly, nothing-else-on-earth-matters, amazing high experience that she has had on MDMA previously.
SWIM has been awake for almost 24 hours now and, while she isn't *tired* so to speak, she would like to rest. She is alone (boyfriend is sleeping in another room, he didn't take anything, she doesn't want to disturb) and her pounding heart is concerning her.
SWIM knows it was very stupid to accept and unknown substance off a friend and seriously regrets it. She will usually only buy off good, reliable sources and is much better at limiting herself to reasonable doses. She thinks she took somewhere between 250-400mg. SWIM also mixed this with alcohol. She had 4 tinned g&ts at pre-drinks and then two double g&ts, two jager shots and one vodka and lemonade during the night.
She really regrets taking an unknown substance so she would appreciate people sparing the lecture. She would like to know if anyone might be able to identify what she has taken based on the above description and help her figure out how to handle her pounding heart and inability to sleep. Her symptoms have lessened in the last hour but she still feels very weird.
Should she embrace the unrelenting energy and do some exercise? Should she drink a lot of liquids? Should she lie still or watch something? Any input appreciated.
