What determines strength of ketamine?

If I'm correct, all methods of turning liquid ketamine into crystals are very similar. Is it that the veterinary/medical ketamine is made in different strengths resulting in different potency of the crystal? Or is it more likely that the less potent ketamine is cut with something? And if so, what is it commonly cut with?

Thanks.

Less potent powdered Ketamine is cut with something. I can't speak to what those cuts would be but I would guess they would be non actives, something like sugar.

Less potent liquid Ketamine just has less Ketamine per unit volume.

All pure Ketamine is the same potency, there is no way to make a more potent crystal.

I took a really hard look at my friend's stuff and seemed to look homogeneous, but it wasn't as strong as some other stuff he's tried. I'm not really into powders that much, but can you usually tell when something is cut with the naked eye?

um, no. that's what makes it cut. there are only about a million different white powders that will "look" homogeneous to the naked eye. (example: salt and sugar!)

try staring a little harder at the powder, maybe it'll talk back and tell you what it's been cut with :)

some stuff that powders are cut with will look a little more talky and less crystal but in all honesty if you don't have access to lab equipment and the necessary know how there is generally only one way to gauge it's strength and that's to test some, all i can say is rather you than me, i hate the stuff to be frank <3

As far as ketamine goes it's pretty difficult to test what you have without actually doing it.

In terms of liquid generally the good stuff is 1ml/100mg of ketamine(correct me if I'm wrong, very tired.) For the most part whenever I've gotten vials this is the prevailing measurement of potency. I've seen a few that are 1ml/50mg.

As far as drying it out and formation into crystal; drying out is probably the best way to do it imo if you have a day to let it dry out. Of course that's give and take depending on how much liquid your fixin up. Other methods I've found tend to lower yield slightly as long as you don't majorly fuck up. IE leaving it in the microwave for way to long or something.

As far as powder goes, whatever you get is at worst street quality. I've had powder that's really shitty and I've gotten powder that's almost as good as drying it out yourself. It's really a crapshoot since for the most part most powder looks pretty much the same as far as the naked eye goes. You could get a test kit I guess, but the best way is probably bump a 30mg and see how it feels. Depends on K experience I guess.

Side note there are two different isomers of ketamine that produce slightly/subtle different effects. The (+) isomer is quite a bit more potent than the (-) isomer. This can be a big factor as to potency regardless of cooking method. Although as far as I know most street K(via tests and vials I've seen around the K scene) is racemic, a combination of the two. If you want more info on that here's a good summary:
