New England 100% so I am 49. I am free of any responsibility right now for the first time so I'm just enjoying my life. I went back to FL for a little over a year May '23-Aug '24. I spent my time between Inverness, Jacksonville, and Spring Hill. I could say the real superficial things like I can't stand the heat, the traffic is awful, food was twice as expensive, and that's all true but it's more than that. In my experience at least, the people in New England are more genuine. I felt like everyone I met in FL, with very few exceptions, was just out to get what they could from me and disappear. People were really just concerned about what they wanted and that's it. There's a lot of game playing and hustling. I also really don't agree with the politics of FL. There is a lot of ignorance there. I don't mean to offend anyone with that statement but it's very true. There's a lot of people who didn't graduate high school (I was the only one l of 4 who did in my family), critical thinking skills are lacking, crime is high, drugs are everywhere. I saw a lot of poverty. My memories of growing up there were completely different than what I experienced when I just went. It used to be a really laid back, like being on a permanent vacation vibe. People were friendly. You could talk to anyone. It's really not like that anymore. Parts of FL are very beautiful. But I found myself getting homesick for NH. I missed the beaches there and the wide open spaces, the way the air smelled, being 5 minutes away from most of my friends. Plus my kids are there. Real estate/rentals in New England are outrageously expensive. It's almost impossible to live on your own . FL is more affordable that way. I've lived in both places for around the same amount of time. New England really grew on me.Within an hour of both Gainesville and Jacksonville, way out in the sticks trying to set up a personal supply cactus farm tbh. Got engaged, and have land here so we're building on it once we can. There's a weird pipeline from the northeast to Florida in my not the experience, I call it the "snowbird corridor" when talking to my Maine friends about it hahaha.
Just out of curiosity, do you prefer New England or Florida, and why?
