I think its the opiates that cause the OPIATE HANGOVER. hehe such a dickhead answer
Well, headaches, nausea (sometimes vomiting), bad taste in my mouth, and a general shitty feeling -- all very similar to an alcohol hangover only worse. You mention getting ill if you do too much. Do you mean during your high or after? What I am talking about is different from the nausea that can hit you while you are high.
Also, as I have said, the hangovers are less of a problem when I actually have a habit. So during the times in my life when I have used daily, I didn't have hangovers.
It really seems that not everyone has a problem the next day. Could it be some sort of personal sensitivity to opiates?
it's caused by your body chemistry returning to normal after being changed by the opiate. i can't tell you the exact mechanisms, it's probably very complicated just like the alcohol hangover is quite complicated (it's more than just dehydration).
I have had a few opiate hangovers. They are indeed worse than most alcohol hangovers I've had and I remain completely still in the dark until the early evening the next day. Dehydration is certainly a factor, but there is more at work it seems.
A few questions for those who personally know the opiate hangover:
1) Do you have any history of migraines or headaches that aren't caused from drugs/alcohol?
2.)Do you have any sinus problems?
3.)Do you drink alcohol much? With opiates at all?
4.)Is the hallmark factor the 'braincrushing' headache?
For me:
1)A handful of sickeningly terrible migraines and headaches were normal before sinus surgery.
2)As mentionted above, I have had sinus surgery because of severe sinus problems.
3)Moderately for both.
4)YES! Sometimes accompanied by vomiting.
Maybe we can find some similarities between us and narrow things down. I am really curious to see what the cause is and if preventative measures can be taken. Maybe insufflation plays a part? Maybe stomache contents? etc...
I've been addicted (pretty mildly) to pod tea, but for a damn long time, something like 7 months.
