believe me i know what its like to not be able to sleep. i have severe insomnia and sometimes will be up for days unwillingly before i fall asleep.
the web page you linked to in your post had nothing on it that has helped me, lavender oil is calming but if you are looking for aromatherapy your best bet is to use JASMINE oil, it works very similarily to valium, and very well. I sniff jasmine oil every night before i go to sleep, and then several times throughout the day (not for as long, just a few minutes to help relax my body/detsress/feel good)
melatonin can work wonders for some people, however it does nothing for me unfortunately
if youre looking for herbal help: Jasmine Oil is the best by far IMO, but also Valerian, St John Wort, Passion Flower, Chamomile -- I often drink sleepy time tea, it has Valerian, Chamomile, and some other herbs in it, its very yummy and calming
single pharmaceutical drugs ive tried that worked with varying amounts of success: carisoprodol (soma), cyclobenzaprine (flexeril), lorazepam (ativan), alprazolam (xanax), fentanyl, morphine
combination drugs: carisoprodol+morphine, lorazepam+morphine, lorazepam+xanax, morphine+benadryl, midazolam+fentanyl, promethazine+morphine, cyclobenzaprine+morphine
