What broken-up band do you miss the most?

definitely sublime.......i would do anything to catch a show with brad onstage...

alice in chains would be sweet to.....

fuckin drugs fuck up so many sweet bands, but at the same time fuels them....guess we should just be happy we got the music we did from em.

Another way to look at it: Imagine what those bands could possibly be like today. Look at the progression a good portion of half-way decent bands follow. They start off awesome, become so-so, and end up just fading out. It sucks to see that happen to a band you love.

Maybe these bands that no longer exist are better off not existing? They've left us with some great material to enjoy without having to worry if what they did next would even come close to being as good.

Just a thought.

1. Jimi Hendrix (definitely, imagine what this guy could have done if he lived longer)

Sundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots (yes, im a grunge sucker :D)

previously mentioned...
At The Drive-In
Operation Ivy
Mr. Bungle

yet to be mentioned
JAWBREAKER
A Tribe Called Quest
The Misfits with Danzig
Charles Bronson

The Pharcyde
Sleater-Kinney
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony (though they've recently reunited for another album!)
The Fugees
OutKast (though their "break-up" is disputed, but they still aren't recording together much)
Nirvana
No Doubt

and some older ones like En Vogue, New Edition, and other '90s pop/R&B singers with actual TALENT.

The Original GnR.

They really should get back together. Because....Velvet Revolver needs a new singer and Axl's new GNR is terrible.

They all need to get back together. I know they didn't get along but they should do it for their fans.

THIS WORLD NEEDS GNR!

Pantera and System of a Down.

I've seen SOAD, they put on a hell of a show, but I never got to see Pantera. I was in basic training in the military, and it was the day before graduation the day after Dime got shot. I was in a good mood all day until I heard the news :(

This is similar to what I was gonna write. I've seen the majority of my favorite bands live, including SOAD. In spite of "Reinventing the Steel" being by far the worst major label Pantera release IMO, I was still devastated when they broke up shortly after its release.
Part of it was because I had never taken advantage of the opportunity to see them live, despite the fact that they were extremely important to me as a teenager. Vulgar Display, GSTK, and in particular Far Beyond Driven were the soundtrack to those years of my life.
The one thing I took solace in was that it seems like every metal band reunites at some point. Black Sabbath, original Slayer, At the Gates, etc. When I woke up that day and found out Dime was killed, I was devastated. It still bothers me.

The Smiths

The Stone Roses

Soundgarden

The Manic Street Preachers before Richey died/dissapeared. And for what they fuckin sound like now they might as well be a new band because they suck so bad now. I mean how the fuck can you go from a song like "faster" to "your love alone is not enough" 8o. And that's not even the worst.
