I love this book to pieces.
 
its truly a masterpiece isn't it! nearly finished it going to start Neuromancer which I haven't read yet
 
I just finished reading northern lights by philip pullman, childhood classic for me. I'd forgotten just how well written the series is, and quite adult too really.
 
i saw that trilogy (first edition) being valued at nearly a grand on some antiques roadshow type of programme once. :|
 
i read that a couple months ago, thought it was alright, dragged a bit towards the end though

decided i couldn't be arsed to wait for dad to maybe look for shogun in the loft, and don't want to spend all my money at once which i'll inevitably do if i get onto amazon, so i decided to go to the library.

it was closed >=| i ordered a book on OCD from there back in November and it's yet to arrive for collection. mother quipped that whoever has it out probably has to keep re-reading it
 
Currently reading "A Few Kind Words and a Loaded Gun" by 'Razor' Smith. It's about a bloke who was a South London gang member in the 70s and apparently has 58 convictions for armed robbery. It was written from his prison cell where he's now serving a life sentence.

The book's got a cult reputation and is entertaining but still essentially just another gangster autobiography. The descriptions of his time in prison (he got stuck in psychiatric wings and punishment cells galore due to being a total headcase) and the different gangs that were around in London at the time make this slightly more interesting than the usual book of this genre though.

Just finished re-reading Paul Beatty's "The White Boy Shuffle" which is still one of my favourite books of all time and a hidden gem of American fiction, IMO. Kind of hard to describe in a couple of paragraphs so just get the book instead:

Finally, anyone ever read Tim O'Brien's "If I Die in a Combat Zone"? Not one I've just read but struck me as worth a reccomendation. Ridiculously slept on Vietnam book:

EDIT: ooh, i didn't even realise The Golden Compass was part of that trilogy. i took my niece to see it in the cinema and it was really enjoyable. :)
 
oh noes, not the dreaded foxing!!!

these people make me laugh. what's the fucking point?! surely there are much better 'things' to collect than fucking books? :\
 
im going to start reading dr faustus tomorrow, for my course. the original bedazzled. looks good :)
