I like Coupland a lot too, but the end of his books always leave me feeling a bit miffed. Funnily enough, I was looking for some new reads only yesterday and was looking at this one.
Homicide a year on the killing strets by David Simon
I am a big fan of the wire and iwas lucky enough 2 catch The Corner on Channel 4 (uk)
Since then i've read all the books by David Simon & Ed Burns they are written in a way that i have never come across b4 because the characters are real u can really relaty and facts this is the best out at the moment in my opinion.
Get it from the library if u can't afford it thats what i did.

I just recently started reading again and therefore am taking it easily - my current book is Foundation and Empire by Isaac Asimov.
Can't wait until I regain my reading skills and move to more difficult books, got The Glass Bead Game by Hesse already waiting on the bookshelf
A little while ago I kinda went on a bit of a book buying spree, mainly collecting books by slightly unhinged authors which came about after I read Girl, Interrupted. I started this one last week and as soon as I picked it up, I grabbed a pencil and started underlining everything that resonated with me. Esther Greenwood's outlook on life is much like my own. Her thoughts begin where mine end; the same thread interweaved into the same maddening thought.
My mum always talked about Patricia Cornwell books being good, so have started reading her first novel - Postmortem
Just over half way through it now and it is really good, there are lots of books in the series with the same main character after this too so looking forward to reading them too
