What Bluelight means to me

Ahhhh... the Mac & Nick post combo - now there's something that's been missing from bluelight for far too long! I feel like the board is back to the way it used to be already!!!
Someone mentioned before that the board has become very Melbourne-centric, but i would have to say the same about Sydney too. Notice how recently, if a thread is started by a Melbourne bluelighter - then the thread will be replied to by mainly Melbournians?
Don't get me wrong, the same thing is happening with the Sydney crew. I think it's about time that we forgot where people reside, and focus on making Blulight an online community again.
I'm sure we can do it, ive noticed a big change in Bluelight over the last few days alone. I'd almost given up on it...but then thread's like 'drug friends' throw up some nice little discussions.
I think today's keyword is chill.
And if you are going to write a real big post, use Word, and neaten it up. It's so good to see a well written and spaced argument.
And remember, Mooch loves ya...

I concur with moocho on the word idea
Not to be anal, but while I can stand a certain amount of bad spelling (we're all only human!) poor grammer really really shits me.
If you write a post more than a line or two long, read back out to yourself out loud, and if you dont take a breath, use some grammer

OK, admittedly I didn't read the whole thread.. wanna know why?
Well, I read the Subject line (yes.. sounds familiar). I read the first paragraph(yeah this is REALLY familiar.. hangon Horsey, haven't you said this once before?)

Blah blah yeah yeah ditto ditto. Wasn't the whole thing about Social the fact that there WAS allowed to be a bit of shit floating around?
I think one of the main variables in the whole jaded theory is the feeling that you no longer feel like you fit into the scene the way you once did (for some reason or another)
... see, the crap threads were all funny once upon a time eh Horsey? when you knew everyone who was posting in them personally? Same goes for the people posting them now. I personally find many threads a load of tripe. I've just come to realise that well.. as long as there's a few people getting their jollies, then I guess Bluelight has fulfilled it's social role as well. I've also learned to click, glance, evalutate and move on at alarmingly high speeds.
Bluelight is primarily a harm Minimisation site, and I think it still fulfills that role quite well (although we really DO need to get some static info pages happening).. but yeah. i dunno where this was going.
Same place every other thread like this has gone I think. Nowhere.

PS. I must admit I was a bit peeved about that election thread being closed, but yeah in the end it did go way off topic (with the whole mod favouritism thing)and I reckon Tarsy does a pretty fine job so I was happy to leave it up to his discretion. eh

OK mona, you've COMPLETELY missed the point to my thread, I suggest you go back and read it again.
My point was an attack on the mods/admins and users of this board who attack new bluelighters for not knowing basic rules.
Instead of telling them in a reasonable way, they flame them until there is no way that these people will post again out of pure fear.
It was also having a go at the people who are letting the recent events of the world and bluelight effect their posts moreso than they should.
So before I hear anymore of this "you're jaded, you should get over it stuff", i'm not fucking jaded, I just believe in giving members a fair go, and getting rid of the cliqueness that bluelight has developed. You know the saying, "every bluelighter is equal"...or something

i think alot of us have not been posting heaps lately .... YES ... blame it on the media ..... or something but deep in each of us ... we know very well why we dun post as often. BL has been very imformative in some ways and disruptive in others. How sure are u that all the info here is TRUE? im not sayin that it is all crap but there is a chance that info is wrongly read by some of us here .... if not explained properly or even fully.
I ranting on as well .... exams ... so forgive me.
One thing ive to say is that there is not enuff of substance in most posts. It becomes boring and just useless bits of info. Maybe im getting older ( and wiser
). Most of us, in a way, "grew up" here. I never regretted joining BL. Its still good. However, when u get older, things change and i need something more substantial, more solid that just getting info from here or just reading scttered posts all the time. Where are all the healthy discussions that we used to have and funny wierd stuff that u can really luff out loud. Where has it all? gone? I think its just individual .... just me ... we grow and we move on. I still respect the mods and the admin here. They have done a great job and they are not even paid for it. We have to give them this amount of credit and our respect. If not for them, there will be chaos!
OKOK .... i think ive said too much and spoke my mind ... though there is lots more. Things change all the time ... either the board has changed or u/ myself has changed. just like the dance/ rave scene ... everything change ... so just accept it.
ps my lang is not really good so please forgive me and im still studying for exams!! arrghhhhh!!!!

In terms of the harm minimisation mission, I think we're still progressing well and doing some really good work. The social aspect I won't comment upon, but I think that the Bluelight community is evolving. I'm still pretty proud of the good things that come out of Bluelight.
My best advice for ensuring a harmony within the community is the same as in real life: do unto others as you would have them do to you (but make sure you do it first)
