OK. So I've been taking xanax and it was working great until now it seems. I keep getting rebound anxiety. At least thats what it feels like. Should I switch to klonopin for a few days or a day until I can get put back on diazepam? or will the klonopin still be bad as it caused pr's before, but has worked some as well.???help??

If clonazepam caused paradoxical reactions, then I suggest prazepam (Centrax).

It's not a great benzo, but its a good anxiolytic and it is very long acting.

Why can't you just get back on your diazepam?

EDIT: It would help a great deal if you told us where you are from (what country), so that way we know what benzos we can refer you to that may not be available in the U.S.

I believe clonazepam will work well for you, that is if you have no more PRs. It is similar to Xanax in action, which seems to have worked til recently, yet has a half-life closer to that of diazepam. Diazepam, for me, tends to be more physically sedating and not as effective at treating anxiety. Clonazepam is as good for anxiety as alprazolam with a longer affect. I believe it is exactly what you are looking for, but I am no doctor.

I am from the US. It isn't the best selection. Doctors are worried to prescribe medicine for their license or so they say here in my parts. I dont ever abuse these fuckers. I did in the past, but stopped ages ago as it isn't fun. I just want triazolam, but I KNOW this doctor of mine wouldn't give me both that and xanax. Is that a good choice? its mainly the insomnia issue. I can get valium I just dont know whats working best. Is it true short acting benzos develop a rebound after like a month or two? Hah I think this is whats happening so far tonight though since i didn't consume a diazepam things are fine am eating well. I was taking my prescribed xanax not over doing it sometimes under-doing the dose, and I started getting rebound anxiety insomnia. Soo I decided Diazepam is in my possession from a prior script very little so I took 1 5mg before bed or an hour before for maybe 5 days....or 4....after day 2 ugghh today i just feel shitty and jittish. I dunno I just wanna know what isnt likely to cause any paradoxical effect at all , OR reboud. Give me REASONABLE suggestion. I thought going back to just Diazepam because its longer acting made me relaxed and tired stress free and the day after it was perfect no bad shit its just when I mix, and getting serax with that or ativan? Serax because I never tried it and it seems like it would go nice with diazepam correct?

I will give it ONE more try tomorrow at 3mgs. I don't know I have had 3 issues where I've went to them away from em back away back away then my psychiatrist finally said im having a paradoxical effect. It made me VERY moody and sad. Valium and Oxazepam? I take 4mgs of Xanax a day I was on Temazepam for quite awhile and now im just on xanax. It was 15mg of temazepam at night but seriously I needed 60mgs, and sleep perfect. 45 was best actually. Should I get back on restoril ? and I am curious about ativan and estazolam?

They have a higher tendency for rebound effects and typically have far worse withdrawl. I like oxazepam better for intoxicating purposes, but I would rather take lorazepam if I were stressed or anxious. Oxazepam doesn't work nearly as fast as lorazepam, so I would try to get lorazepam or triazolam. I've never had success trying to have triazolam prescribed, so lorazepam is probably the best bet. Prazepam would probably work great for you, but it has an ungodly half-life.

I thought you needed a long acting benzodiazepine?

The only long acting anxiolytic benzos commercially available in the U.S. are diazepam, clonazepam, clorazepate, prazepam, and chlordiazepoxide.

All the rest are short-acting like alprazolam, lorazepam, etc.

xanax has a very short duration of action and half life, try another benzo with a longer half life, i would recommend diazepam or oxazepam

Oxazepam has a half life almost as short as alprazolam's. Oxazepam's half life is 4-14 hrs.
