To quote PiHKAL's introduction:

"Here, I will describe briefly something called the "alert". It is some small sign which serves to remind me (in casr I have become distracted by a phone call or conversation) that I had, indeed, taken a drug. It comes early in the experiment, and is the prelude to further developments. Each member of our research group has his own individual form of alert; one notes a decongestion of the sinuses, another has a tingling at the back of the neck, still another gets a brief runny nose, and I, personally, become aware that my chronic tinnitus has disappeared."

What are your individual alerts?

I often get a certain feeling in my lower body region, a tingling / queasy / euphoric feeling.
There's also a certain hard to describe taste in my mouth.

more spaciousness to whatever place I am in
euphoria and upper body fullness
cleared sinuses
tracers or trails
a sound like twenty crickets "tsutsing"
the impulse to go to the toilet

Particularly for phenethylamines (I'm not so sure about the tryptamines because it's been a while and I barely take any), I'll notice yawning, the mind clearing (tabula rasa as someone I tripped with fittingly called it) and a head tingling. Especially the yawning is also apparent with sub-psychedelic, sometimes even sub-perceptible dosages or (assumedly) low efficacy 5-HT2AR agonists.

I don't think that it's consistent between psychedelics for me. I'm not really sure anymore. In recent years, I've started to think I'm just noticing the onset way before the effects become dramatic.

It varies, depends on what substance, at what dose and in what setting. In my early years especially taking mushrooms, the need to defecate, yawning and teary eyes where the most classic alerts. Now it may be vague anxiety and slight bruxism in addition what's previously mentioned.

All-of-the-above, at various times. I also have been alerted by a noticeable mood lift, a kind of involuntary smile and feeling of ease---more commonly with things like 2C-B and 2C-T-2. I've experienced muscle sensations including apparent mild loss of coordination and/or changes in tension and/or tone. I've also experienced increasing in sweating on my hands or elsewhere as an alert. I often get GI alerts. I can often feel when my stomach and/or guts increase in activity in a way that seems particular to psychedelics.

For dissociatives, my face starts feeling warm and fuzzy.

For psychedelics, a sort of physical nervousness/very mild nausea, a bit of a tightened jaw but loosened rest of my face, and some euphoria and laughter.

DMT - a warmness that particularily manifests in my shoulders/neck and especially my finger tips.

Psilocybe - i feel all the hairs on my neck stand up

LSD is a lot harder to pinpoint exactly what my alert is, but i feel it with 15 minutes of ingestion. Even though its hard to define, my body is telling my mind to get ready. Oddly enough, i do not get the same with AL-LAD or ETH-LAD...

2C-B - about 30 minutes in i am jist smiling for no apparent reason
