What are you munching on? v. Noodle nights n greedy monkeys

Honey, the only reason I eat "home style " meals is because of the fam. If it were up to me I'd be eating steamed veg and grilled chicken most of the time too. But I've learned to make healthy stuff really tasty. My curry ( thanks to Shammy ) can be really low fat and full of veg. My stews are very low fat and all made from scratch.

Sadly tonight's dinner sadly was as far from low fat as you can possibly get. Thats why I only had a small serving and a large portion of very tasty steamed tenderstem broccoli with just a pinch of salt on them.

The rub of it all? I'm a great cook and my best work has so much fat and calories its unbelievable. But I save those for special treats like when we have company over. Not to mention I'm best as a baker. I can bake some amazing tasty treats.



HOLY CRAP, My son just went for his 4th helping. Thank goodness he's skinny thing so he is.
 
i must admit sadie, when im not really taking drugs, and im eating clean and healthy, all be it a bit boring and i get back into the gym; i really start focusing well and feeling really good. occasionally though, it can all feel a little soulless, if that makes sense, more like a programmed robot than a human. but by and large i really enjoy it and tend to feel and look so much better.

i guess the key with the food as you say is to get the balance right, between making sure your eating a good nutritional diet for my physical needs, yet at the same time, still feeling like it has soul and like im living. its not easy tbh, as i tend to be very strict with myself when im in that mode.

even like i was discussing about eating cottage cheese to retain muscle mass and growth during sleep last night, thats how anal i get about it all while im in healthy gym mode. i dont even go to bars or clubs in those periods or take anything or drink. it gets a bit much sometimes, but it does make a nice change from being out all weekend, lacking sleep and taking stuff like e and coke.

the difference to the way i look and feel imo after three months of clean living, early nghts and some gym time is quite amazing. this is why i tend to do this after going off on a tangent. i do it for at least half of the year, somtimes even longer if i can maintain my willpower
 
OFT You sound a rather svelt man but I enjoy the finer things in life far too much. I suppose that's why I'll never be fit but also, not huge. I'm me. I couldn't miss out on a bit of drink or some cheese. Fortunately I tend to not eat too many calories. Just because. Some days I do but most days I don't. I did the gym thing for a while. I was actually on a very strict and difficult training regime and it did very little to me. Now days I've declared my car SORN and try and walk as much as possible, don't drink as much and eat lots steamed fresh veg. It kinda helps that I look after a family of 4 ( including me ) that involves a LOT of house work ( usually after a day at work ). Not so much right now. My flu cured me of a job. C'est la vie.


Edit: DON! What have I told you about that. It's supposed to be a secret! Shhhhhhhh why dontcha!
 
If your cooking is low-fat, Sadie, I like low-fat food way more than I'd ever imagined :D

Finished me salmon-stuffed saag masala just now. As ever, curry improved by sitting around for a day or so. If I was really organised I'd cook curries ahead to let them mature. Sadly I'm not even close to the most basic level of organisation so "really" is a long way off...
 
Baby, I promise that the next time you come up I'll make you some healthy stuff. Mine can be quite tasty.

Mmmmm Day 2 curry. Not as nice as peak day 3 curry but tastier than day 1 curry.

But was still yum :)

Whatever level of fat is in the SadiesScran I've so far sampled is fine by me. I may expand a tad during visits but that's probably more down to the sheer quantity I shovel down meself cos it's so damn tasty :D
 
im not sure in the case of fish, but most curries i would imagine will improve in the freezer if its packed and frozen correctly. thats always an option. the same goes for casseroles to.

i would assume its better with chicken or meats or prawns though, rather than fish

Goodness I love ya for it. Nothing like having a loving audience. Don't worry. Banana bread is on the go. Just waiting for banana's to ripen enough.

Och, I do love those who love my food. I suppose I don't get as much appreciation from the fam as they eat it all the time. I still think the OH makes better food than me but I'd never ask anyone to compare. Mostly because I hate to lose.
 
Just found a few clementines Mama Shambles gave me over Xmess. Still good to munch so munched a couple. Yum. Have an odd relationship with fruit. Rarely buy any and even if I do tend to forget to eat it. Always like it when I remember to eat it though. That's anything up to two (count 'em two!!!) vitamins I've eaten today. Possibly a record :)
 
just had a kipper, poached egg, and some granary toast for brekkie. shall keep me going for the morning
 
I had some LOW LOW Mature cheddar cheese spread on Pumpkin seed Rivita for breakfast.

Going a bit more calorific for lunch. I had a store bought Chicken Vindaloo in the freezer for months. One of those made "fresh" thingys that taste crappy but hey, Food is food.
 
Currently some amazing Garlic stuffed Green Olives and some tasty Black Kalamata olives.

For dinner I'm cooking Steak pie with boiled potatoes that will be pan seared in butter and topped with parsley and fresh chives, Steamed Cabbage and Steamed Tenderstem Broccoli.

Sadly, tonight I did not make the steak pie from scratch. Special offer FTW!


It does kinda suck when I don't make things from scratch as I can't make home made gravy so tonight It'll be bisto.


Edit: Store bought = crap. :(

Crumpets! I love crumpets, grr!


Forgot lunch, am at work til half 6, had half an apple for breakfast and just found a tiny bit of stale cake in the staffroom. Booooo :(
