Very nice, Brimz :)

Was brought up on homemade bread. When I was a nipper I'd go to friends' house for tea and get sliced white. Used to come home and tell MamaSham I'd had cake cos I didn't realise it was actually bread. You really notice how sweet mass-market bread is when you mostly only eat homemade wholemeal and the like.

I actually buy it off her . It is the right thing to do she does me a loaf of normal n a fruit one 4 £2.50 n it's a bargain i couldn't eat the shite that is supposed to be bread not after years of this good stuff .

One bler commented on it actually said it was lush :)

Lobster pot noodle. Very nice.

^ Lobster "taste" Pot Noodle - guessing that's not quite the same as lobster Pot Noodle. I'd nom the shit out of it though <3

Bet it is, Brimz. Now like good homemade bread. Not made any for years meself and was never brilliant at it. Not bad but nowt special. Have had folk trying to convince me that stuff made in a breadmaker counts as homemade - which it technically does - but it's crap imo. Far too heavy and prefer my bread to look a bit funky rather than just coming as a brown cuboid.

Homemade bread is the best thing since well er fish and chips? Before my little girl started school I'd make us some with cumin and corriander in. I had this yeast:

best stuff I've ever used, could add more than required to speed up the proving process (we were impatient) and it wouldn't leave a yeasty flavour in the bread like supermarkets own brand does. Amazing stuff. We used to demolish a small fluffy warm loaf between with fresh real butter for lunch.

it is actually langoustine stock thats in it, and it has some actual prawns in it. quality noodles from asia!.

I second the homemade bread thing,I love making bread, its goodfor the soul.

drop scones are amazing, scotch pancake style. With butter. and jam. hot off the pan.

I've been making soda bread lately, it's so easy and really filling.

Why are langoustines so much cheaper when called scampi?

cos most scampi is just an assortment of shitey little bits, sometimes pressed together if they're really tiny, bulked up with a gloopy floury mass, then rolled in mass produced, dyed breadcrumbs...there's a few g's of genuine decent meat in there at most

^ Presumed as much. Perhaps unsurprisingly, is as close to actual langoustine as I've yet achieved :(

No not crumpets, drop scones but not crumpets.

There is nothing better than real butter, none of these 'I can't believe...' even get close. How did yours turn out Shambles am interested. Bet it's rich as?

Ya. Very tasty stuff is homemade butter. Dead simple too. Probably works out cheaper than buying it as well. Not done owt like that for ages though. Could make bread easy enough if got back in the habit of it (although would need to buy scales, I suppose) but no way I'd attempt butter without a food processor or the like. Actually used some nasty-coloured 70s placcy butterchurn gadget thingamajig MamaSham had in the back of the cupboard. Must've lost a stone in sweat making it so worked out as a health food.

Only tried crumpets a coupla times. Much better than the rubbery shop ones - and I <3 the rubbery shop ones. Is a weird gloopy batter that seems like it's gone horribly wrong... til you cook it <3

no need for scales when you're making bread! just fire in a load of flour into a bowl, use two sachets of instant yeast, stick some salt in to taste and some sugar, a couple of spoonfuls of sunflower oil, then make it up with either milk or water. I don't measure anything! I like a mix of wholemeal and white flour.

Sounds like a plan, fellas :)

Unlike Ben I don't like me bread to taste particularly yeasty though. Was proper into baking many years ago so the thought of making bakings sans scale is anaethema to me. But there should be plenty room for error with bread really. And ingredients are cheap enough for it not to matter too much anyway. And even less-than-perfect bread often tastes pretty damn good. Y'all may've talked me into it :)
