i want to find UK truffles. Ive researched where to find them so just need go out & find the right soil, trees and directional slope. Ive never eaten or smelt a truffle, I want to train my dog to find them and make £££ so I thought I'd buy one to get started on training. It was about £30, fuck that I'm determined to find one.

I went to a lebanese resaurant at lunch time, it was really nice, good value and tasty.

It wasn't amazing, my parents brought me back 5g of dried truffles from somewhere n Italy last year.

Put the last 1.3g's in this risotto, and could barely taste them. I make a fairly flavourful risotto though, might have worked better with a very bland one.

I was impressed with having truffles in my pantry, but have been consistently disappointed with the resulting dishes, or a least the effect the truffle has(n't) had on them.

Don't kno if it's cos they are dried, or cos they are a poor quality one..lst time I was in Italy I bought some very very expensive dried porcinis, my missis went mantal as porcinis are often quite cheap there, but these ones were fucking amazing.

Knowing my parents they'd have bought the cheapest truffles available.

Had leftovers last night, same dish as before

Made a chicken pie tonight with leftovers from Christmas. Some boiled potatoes mixed in with a bit of melted butter and rosemary, and broccoli. Worked pretty well

hmmm, yeah, needs to be v thin, any slightest hint of a fibre in the al dente texture and I throw the pan in the bin in disgust.

hrmn, I has no answer to your steak pie query kate, but I just wish to point out that that pizza looks delish ... however, lobbing (or ordering) sweet corn on a pizza is punishable by death on thee East Coast (ie: my 'ouse ;p) ...
