What do you expect from tesco value?

Had a butterie with cheese and ham and then some really tasty home made soup. It's just been made but it already has that day after taste to it so I reckon tomorrow it's going to taste amazing.

just stuffed a chicken with a load of chopped green leek, crushed red peppercorns, and its in the oven...

got a load of rainbow chard from the allotment, braising the stems with leek, got some sprouts, some cabage, and prob do the lot with roast tatties

mmmmmm,roast lamb....

I've got a load of scrag end in to make a lamb stew for tomorrow....might cook it today..

yesterday started with a fry up from a cafe followed by a visit to McDS and a frozen pizza for tea.

today cooked up a nice fry for my brekkie, for dinner it's home made meat and potatoe pie with chips, mushy peas n gravy.

Harm reduction at its finest :D (hope your having a good weekend). I've got a pot of Aubergine and chickpea curry on the go, going to have it over couscous.

Thailand right now mate, I'm half Italian and half Scouser though, been living pretty much everywhere and anywhere since I turned 18...

Lucky you. I miss Thailand was there for 5 months earlier in the year. Where bouts you living and what are you doing?

Did I read that you don't eat the street food because it keeps poisoning you? I used to eat it every day, pad thai, curries, chicken, skewer kebabs etc and aside from the odd dose of the shits no poisoning thankfully. Get's a bit boring after a while don't you think though? Too samey. Everything is basically chicken or pork with rice or noodles with a slightly different tasting sauce.

I got extremely ill after eating street food in India/Thailand a few times. I got dysentery after stupidly ordering a prawn curry from a beach cafe' On reflection the curry had been on the menu for several days.. They had no electricity for a fridge so it had probably been sitting there in the sweltering heat getting more fatal by the day. I was so ill. I mean reallly fucking ill. I was bloody careful after that.

I don't eat sea food but if I did I don't think I'd ever order it from the street. Though I eat the chicken, pork and beef which I guess is much the same. You see the guy there first thing in the morning with the food all on display, in the sun, flies everywhere, no refrigeration etc and then 15hrs later he's still there with whatever he's got left and you know he hasn't restocked and it's the same stuff all day. I try and avoid any of the stalls that look like they've been there for the duration and find one that's got a lot of food on display assuming they've not long started working.

Had an epic dose of the shits that lasted about a week in Argentina. I'd just done a 3 day coke and booze binge with no food followed by an 18hr bus journey and was on a massive comedown. Ate some dodgy hot dog when I arrived, knew it was rank, but I had to eat something before I fainted. Big mistake. My whole time in Mendoza I was glued to the bog pissing out my arse, suffered massive dehydration due to the comedown / hangover and shitting. It was grim. :|

That's why I see you post at more normal hours than those other bastards. Are you working in Thailand?

I loved the food in Thailand, but I was only there for a few weeks, I'm sure it does get boring after a bit.

As for seafood though the best I've had was in Malaysia, on Perhentian Islands, had those huge crabs just grilled, so amazing and so cheap, they had a lot other lobster-like things I don't know they name of, loved it, cheap as well although the beer was bloody expensive, had to be brought by boat and the state on the mainland is one of the most conservative in the country. I remember before going to the islands I was in Kuala Terengannu and apart from the hotel where they served booze in the restaurant you had to walk for ages to find the Chinese places as they were the only selling beer.

Sweet and sour Pot Noodle. Disappointed, I think they must have cut down the monosodium glutamate content, which is what I really wanted.

^ that sounds nice. I've been given an oven dish of a melenzana parmigiana to put in the microwave later. I'll make rice to go with it probably.

Quite easy to make if you can afford the aubergine but really good.

edit - it was the spaghetti & linguine that sounded nice, not knocks Pot Noodle =D

Just buy some MSG knock and put it in a salt shaker, delicious!

I remember you leaving for Thailand - something that particularly sticks is you complaining about Songkran and getting soaked by wankers every other half hour lol. Yeah it's more the boredom than the food poisoning that put me off - after eating the same shit for 4 months I had rice and chicken coming out of my ears. I'm teaching English right now, on to a good thing actually, part of a bigger picture and all that... Not going back to Europe except for family emergencies, ever.

Songkran was great fun for the first 2 days, after that it becomes tedious. There's only so much water fighting you can do before it gets boring. 4-5 days of it is too much. Couldn't go anywhere without getting soaked.

I've considered teaching in the past but it doesn't interest me at all so I couldn't really see me making a go of it. A mate is doing it right now, he's in some village in the middle of nowhere in Isaan, and seems to be getting on alright after hating it for a while. Only white person in the village though and nothing to do there either. Think he's going to do one it for one whole term and then pack it in.

Where are you based?

Pizza for lunch from Franco Manca in Brixton. Quality. Two of the best pizza shops around are walking distance from my house :) (Pizza Metro in Clapham is the other)

Chile con carne with rice soon and I've got some dorittos and salsa there so might knock up some fairly basic nachos too.
