Hmmm... interesting choices, Alby. Can't say I agree on the former - may say poppy in the title but is a poppy-free zone for me. Good tune, but not a junky tune to my ear.
There are probably a bazillion tunes labelled as "junky tune" in my head. Of many varieties. The one that truly says "Junky" to me may just have to be this one though...
Approving of your "addict" choice... but mainly cos I'd not heard it yet. Track that defines "addict" for me would maybe be summat more like this.
This is a topic I ponder regularly though so my choices are but phantom flits of a passing fleet for the day and liable to change without warning.
I was actually considering Aphex Twin for junkie. That's a great choice, I was going for something like Ageispolis for the junkie warmth (I think it's a warm word).
Anyone who can point me in the direction of this album (The Big Man And The Scream Team Meet The Barmy Army) gets more BL points than they could ever use... There's other tracks from it on PooToob but buggered if I can find a torrent or owt
Ha! Thanks for the tip, Alby. I'd only use such a thing as an absolute last resort though on the grounds that PooToob vids tend to be kinda shitey sound quality... but if needs must that may just come in handy so thankee kindly
Melodians - Sweet Sensation One FUCK of an old reggae song which still delights me after ..... sixteen years of listening, I think? It's got such an optimistic vibe to it that it's almost cutting through the shitalin misery.
^ Still not got round to listening to the album yet. I thought the Bear Hug EP was pretty solid though. Quite looking forward to the new Hotchip album as well.
Tis a good album, and actually feels like an album instead of singles + filler which is quite standard in dance music, with obvious titanic exceptions. Didn't like the more singy stuff at first but it's all grown on me massively. I'll have to check T.E.E.D. out a bit more, cheers for that- I assumed from the name that they were some kind of ghastly seppo independent, all tuneless instrumentals with muttering dickheads over the top. I think I read quite a lot into the name!
Keep meaning to grab their new album, will do so now actually.. but in the meantime, what a belter :D loved seeing them on Sun, played the classics plus some really good new stuff I was 16 when I first heard Aisha, remember being blown away
In the same vein (of legends I saw on Sunday haha) Squarepusher's new stuff (and lightshow) is insanely good!
