I am listening to Sage Francis in general this hour. KING OF METAPHOR!.

I am so, so, so, so, so immensely glad I finally got to see him last year on his Australian tour as he reckons he is done touring full stop. I have loved this man for 7 or so years now. He's a fucking wordsmith and if every hip hop artist has a third of his penchant and talent for putting words together I would call myself an afficiando of the genre.

Definitely up amongst my favourite songs ever. This band pretty much invented math rock in the 80s and this song has one of my most memorable guitar riffs (it absolutely tears), I hum it all the time. The first verse as well is absolutely divine, it brings back all those murmured, husky conversations in the delerium between being awake and somnolence with friends and lovers.

Now if I had the courage
I'd pour into a jar
All the things that I have heard you whisper in the dark
And when that jar was heavy
With your honeyed confidence
I'd put it to my lips and drink its meaning and its sense
