Mmh...I like a few of their songs but overall I'm not a fan. I enjoy them but that's about the extent of it. How bout you?
 
Interesting one. I seem to think I like them a lot more than I actually do. For some reason I hold their music in much higher esteem than it deserves. The albums generally have two belting tunes on them and the rest are forgettable. The exception for me is 'Room On Fire' where the first six tracks are pretty top notch stuff.

I only ask because I've been listening to their new album on and off today between blues and drum and bass sessions and can only identify one worthy tune on it. For some reason I am trying to force myself to like it more. Not sure why.

That one tune is a corker though. Great minor key changes and tight off beat chord structures. Classic Strokes. Classic indie rock and roll.

Huh, it's funny you'd sort of 'force' yourself to like them. Although I've done that before I think - there's bands I feel I should like because they're similar to other stuff I listen to or whatever so I try to convince myself I enjoy them...it never works =P
I'll listen to that album later and tell you what I think :) (what's that one tune?)

Ooh yeah I quite like it. It's not really the type of song I'd listen to a lot though, I tend to listen to more 'heavy' rock most of the time - but it's definitely a good one :)

See what I mean about the minor key changes in the opening bars? That is what they are all about.

I'm glad you didn't chooses 'Back In Black' btw. I used to love that tune before it got raped by everything ever.

Yeah Funkadelic are more funk rock than plain old wiggle your trouser legs pure funk I'll agree. Still belting tunes though. Trippy as. Mind journey music.

Yup, true.

Haha yeah no, I can't stand it anymore...I think AC/DC's one of the bands whose biggest hits got over-played the most :|
