As a minor remedy for No Suprises and all it's personal connotations: Radiohead - Happy Song - as far from moany-miserable, inward 'n' gloomily soul-searching as it gets radiohead or not. from their pre-radiohead era when they played for free at my local youth club and related pub circuit. did i ever see 'em? did i fuck. still bugs me but they were but one good band amongst so many in a thriving music scene. was at college with a fella who knew thom and johnny which may be a minor lame to fame at best but still makes my fanbody-self purr somewhat
And yeah, Dicky D covers all emotions for me but that particular track has had me in tears way more often than many more obvious tracks have. pure raw emotion so it is. i'll say it again, those high notes are just soul-destroying
But yeah, I also does perky Dicky D stuffs. Truth be told, am just a massive fanboy and have been since his very first stuff. Used to play his stuff to the Sepp's over in PD Social back when I modded there. They mostly weren't into that kinda stuff and never had that late-80s/early-90s rave thing we did so is kinda alien to many of 'em. Fairly sure I won a fair few converts with my endless postwhoring of so many of his tracks though - and that one was one I pushed a lot.
Okay, gonna try again cos y'all have no idea how much this has been bugging me. Not in a bad way - just plain curious cos such very strange circumstances and I just can't shake the fact that he really is saying what it sounds like to me, Just the very first thing he says on his all-time "Respect List" thingy. The others I know cos are all artists and the like so many of us fanboys
but the first one ain't anybody on any label I know of. Am I going mad or does it actually say what I think it does? I realise it may seem ridiculously unlikely but y'all have no idea how much I've postwhored 'n' pushed his tunes the whole time I've been on BL - not to mention in private back when I had my beloved vinyl collection.The background story goes like this... Basically, what is what he says after: 'Respect going out to...'. Objectively. Although perhaps taking into account the bizarre circumstance of finding it cos I don't have the album it's taken from and never have.
