Shine My Shoes Robbie Williams

Another dawn, another day, another dollar to be made.
I got a pocket in my soul, where a little rock a little roll assimilate
And I don't care what you think you know
'bout who I am and how it goes
I made it easy to be me so yeah, It's easy to be me
And it's why I say
(Chorus)
I know you can't stand me cause i make you so angry more and more each day
hey hey hey
The way you don't love me kind of makes you look ugly and the words you say
hey hey hey
Come up and see me, i kind of like the abuse
hey hey hey
There's no room in my bed
But while you're here just bow your head and you can shine my shoes
Shine my shoes
Get outta my lane boy, you're not in my league
Some are born to thrive and some to underachieve
Here's something that'll make you sick
I'm as happy as a pig in Sh--
I've been amused, I've been about, I've been amazed, I've been betrayed
That's why I say
(Chorus)
I know you can't stand me cause I make you so angry more and more each day
hey hey hey
The way you don't love me kind of makes you look ugly and the words you say
hey hey hey
Come up and see me, oh oh oh, if you can take the abuse
hey hey hey
There's no room in my bed
But while you're here just lend a hand and you can shine my shoes
Shine my shoes
Kneel down boy
(Chorus)
It's why you can't stand me, you make me so angry more and more each day
hey hey hey
The way you don't love me kind of makes you look ugly every the words you say
hey hey hey
Come up and see me, oh oh oh, I kind of like the abuse
hey hey hey
There's no room in my bed
But while you're here then bow your head and you can shine my shoes
Shine my shoes
Shine my shoes
Until I see my face

May I ask if you've ever listened to their earlier stuff, like their A Storm In Heaven album (the Verve). Much more atmospheric, dreamy, far less mainstream pop. I don't know Starsailor, but have heard of them, and this is the first instance I've seen the two bands connected. If you'd like, check out the track "Already There", thought the whole album is fantastic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s_QzcLBKmU

If it's not your thing, cool. And I didn't mean to presume you hadn't heard their earlier stuff, but just thought I'd offer it out there... Cheers!

I havent listened to any Verve album, i only know their singles. To me the bands seem to have a simillar style about them, but for some reason i latched onto starsailor much more. (Probably for music snob reasons, like they arent as big or popular or well known, and i think their singer has been through addiction issues) But mainly they just kind of 'do it for me' more. I love their tunes. Thanks for the suggestion though, Ill give it a listen when im in the mood.

Starsailor - Fidelity

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXqNadfuaV4 a good a place as any to start. Euphoric uplifting contrasting choruses seem to be their trademark. They are masters of their art IMO. 10 out of 10 for this track. I'd love to know what you think of it Sandy Frank as i see you have been carefully studying this thread.

or the catchier

I can really relate to the lyrics man, if that doesnt sound embarrasingly pretentious.

Right back atcha! It's cool to find another fan. Their first was their best, so chilled out but not like that run of the mill 'trip hop' (I hate that term) generic twaddle the studios were churning out. They had amazing beats, perfectly timed scratches, attitude but were also chilled out, and Beth sings like a haunted angel to me. Their live recording is amazing too. If you can find it, they released a 2 CD remix album called "Glory Times". Maybe you can find it in ebay/amazon market place. It has a few harder remixes of Glory Box, plus Sour Times, and some unreleased treasures too. Well worth seeking out. I also love the tracks 'Wandering Star' and 'Roads' on their first album. The second was good, and the third was a total new direction, but I felt that was appropriate and worked. All three greatly surpass so much of what has come out after. They truly were/are one of the greats. <3

I never knew about the remix stuff you are on about, I am just about to Google it. Thanks for the reply btw & welcome to BL & EADD I hope you stick around here as alot of new people seem to come then go really quick but you will see this whole board is great, I've been on alot of boards for the RC scene but BL has some of the best people on without question.

I have to agree I HATE all these strange tags people put on music, of course some stuff has to be tagged but it gets to a point where it becomes dumb, I find it alot in the techno scene in the more dark stuff & deffo in the speedcore style so chilled out but not like that run of the mill 'trip hop' (I hate that term) generic twaddle the studios were churning out.

They had amazing beats, perfectly timed scratches, attitude but were also chilled out, and Beth sings like a haunted angel to me - I agree 100% there too, the ex before I got with her was only into terrible metal bands, she loved this stuff like coal chamber, Korn & that stuff, I do like metal but the classic stuff like Black sabbath with Ozzy in but I also love Jungle, breakcore, well my music taste goes from classical, Norwegian black metal, Billie Holiday etc, of course she found it strange I shared equal space with bands like Autopsy, cannibal corpse then next to it would bee Teebee - black science labs on Cert 18 records, she never understood Jungle etc, one night we had a smoke of some nice hash & I put e early DMZ mix by Loefah when DMZ was held at 3rd base & the music clicked with her & she began to "get it" after that night she would ask me all the time for English stuff to check out, the 1st Portishead album became a true <3 of hers.
She has a daughter who is now 7, before I came into their life she was like all young girls & was into all the pop stuff, I was cleaning one day & doing a semi baby sit & was playing a remarc set (all ragga amen break / ragga jungle) & her daughter went mad when Zinc super sharp shooter came on & kept asking to turn the music & bass up, when her mom came back she told her with such a smile on her face & pure joy that is was now "A real hardcore Jungle raver" & every time I played any Jungle she would come in & danc ewith me, she loved to do her gun finger salute when the beat dropped. Valley of the shadows on moving shadow records is another tune she loves, she must be the only 7 year old Jungle raver in Norway & even after all this time she still tells everyone that her English dad got her into Jungle music & she is a proper Jungle raver, even began to use a small bit of street Patois which to me was so funny.

When Renegade - Terrorist ever got played she would go "I want a bludclart rewind" or something very close, used to make me laugh till my sides hurt, she can do a right Jungle skank when anything with a amen break gets played.

Welcome to BL & EADD, hope you stick around mate :)

lol, it's a small world. I live in the arse end of Birmingham very close to a place called Dudley in the Black Country so I have a heavy "Yam Yam" accent. so I am safe to say "Ow bin yau ar wench Sandyfrank, I ope yau ad a gud day cause yau seem a bostin wench ta me" ;)

My step cousion now lives in Georgia in the USA, he lived in Cape Cod, Boston for years & a few summers ago I went out to the USA & worked in his pizza shop in cape cod, I was staying about 2 mins walk away from the beach the film Jaws was ilmed on & about 5-7 mins away from the Kennedy summer house. One of the best nights was taking my Portishead CD's out to the beach, stopped off at the Package store (off licence for us English) got a few 40 oz's, ate a tab of acid & spent the night on the beach chatting to pretty American girls, for some reason my accent went down a treat =D

Anyway, feel free to not answer any questions you feel too intrusive. I was just trying to make convo and hope I didn't overstep. THANK YOU for the warm welcome to this site. I've found the people on the music treads cool, but got into some hot water for saying SWIM during my first ever trip report.

No problem you seem a nice person to me, I have a kind of 6th sence to these things, you are far from being too intrusive, but yeah the SWIM thing isn't used on here.

Take care & hope to see you around here alot more, "yau's a guud wench ay ya" ;)
