Finally settled on Nick Cave's "Abattoir Blues" Album - I had forgotten how reliable Nick can be in situations like this.

I did also try and listen to the Velvet Underground in memory of Lou Reed but that fucking All Tomorrow's Parties song with Nico on lead vocals sent me into temporary psychosis where I tried to cut my own head off to stop the merciless horror it brings to any who listen to it.

i know the feeling of frusrtration quite well when you skip from track to track as none of them are doing it for you. Scatty stimulants are usually to blame for this. If you're just 'not in the mood' even the very best of your favourites isnt gonna work. I have about 60GB of albums and mp3 singles, if i cant find anything to enjoy from there i usually call it a day.

I only know the title track from Abbatoir Blues and love it. Ive lsitened to the rest of the double album once i think, it clearly needs a bit of investment to get into that one as not all the tracks are as immdiatelly catchy as the epynomous "Abbatoir Blues".

Ive broken my rule with starsailor. I was meant to limit listening to them only as a treat when driving for a fair distance up to the Lake District or Snowdonia or something. Im gonna end up over listening to them if im not carefull. They are far better than The Verve, but they have some simillarities, this band is far better IMO but had far less commercial succeess. The critics savaged them. Anyone agree ? Have any comments ?

The vocals remind me of another band but i can't place it.

Brill though thanks! I was looking for a verve replacement lol can't stomach too much of that.

Better than the Verve? Pffft, I highly doubt this. I'm going to have to have a listen and find out, I guess..
